Add Dragon Quest 8 DLC to my current game?

I started playing dragon quest 8 and several hours in I heard about the dlc items that you can no longer get. I searched and saw there are game saves I could use to get the items but I don't want to have to start the game over. Is there any way to add the items in to my current game? Thanks.
