Or maybe it's just "undiagnosed".

Despite autism research historically being overwhelmingly focused on males, a large number of autistic traits in men is overlooked or handwaved as "just guy things". Impaired social communication?Being socially awkward? Missing hints and social cues? Emotional immaturity or stunted displays of emotion? Just guy things!

On the other hand there is only a limited number of things it is acceptable for guys to be interested in or talk about without being ostracised. Sports, cars, wars, politics, maybe music.

So it's not easy to tell the difference between guys obsessing about sports because it's a special interest, and guys obsessing about sports because it's the only thing it's acceptable to be interested in.
