This is something I've caught myself doing a few times in the past, getting new laces for the sneakers I wear the most. I do (or at least try to) lead an active lifestyle, so spare laces are something I always bring for week-long camping trips. Still, I sometimes get wackier ones, just for kicks. So, does anyone else gets new laces for sports/fashion/durability/cool factor or any other reason?

Ignoring my wearing rigger boots or zip up the sides for the last few years.

Are they broken beyond what a knot will sort? I will get new ones.

That said if rule of cool is in play nobody has yet beaten

Interesting (and fun) idea. For me, no, not anymore, anyway.

As an aside, what kind of sneakers are those They look quite loose and comfy.

The picture was just a decent one from image search. I am equally far from a fan of trainers/sneaker head -- my idea of shoe shopping tends to be walk into the skate shop, find a high ankle shoe and hope they have it sized for the skis I seem to pass off as feet.
That just looks like a low ankle converse clone to me.
I do also see medics wearing similar things from time to time (if you are going to spend 8 hours on your feet then pays to have good shoes)

Very few of my sneakers last longer than their shoelaces so I generally don't buy new shoelaces.
And very few pairs of sneakers last me long enough to get a chance to become "favourite" and get frills and embellishments so there's that.
(Also you ind of need more than one pair at a time for one of them to be favourite; again, that doesn't happen lately.)
I would say that "they don't make shoes like they used to" but then again I don't pay for shoes what I used to so it evens out.
Also I'm about twice as heavy as back when my shoes lasted longer than a few seasons so the fault is partly my own.

That being said, I noticed a few of the shoe store chains around here stopped stocking shoelaces altogether, which may indicate a trend.

Yeah but if your main goal is just to play n64 and GameCube you can save about $50 and have the portability option

True, but on 2 monitors at 4k. Its just want you want really, to each they own.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
For a kids aspect Anbernic would be the better option they'd probably melt over the price on a good 4k display

So they buy a pi5 kit for about $150 and say a 28" 4k display probably looking around $400 total
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They'll be getting in the territory of portable Pcs anyway

Again you get what you pay for, its like buying a S series for $300 but its only 1440p native, if you want true 4k, gotta get the X model for $500. But yea you right, when moms buying it anyways, you gotta stay cheap.

They could use HD out on their TV no real need for a monitor these days tbh the purists will disagree

I'm designing my own entertainment cabinet for my man cave, to store all my systems, then I'm also designing a power supply/HDMI switcher so I can switch to whichever system I want, and power it also. Already picked up the cabinet board, but tinkering with my drawings before start
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
But yea, I have frogger arcade cabinet that I gutted and put a Pi4 then Pi5 into, but it never gets played much anymore, should sell it. Even when the kids come over, they don't want to play on it, just the xbox. TMNT and Simpson's arcade is still so fun on it, esp w 2 players.
