Hello. I hope someone can help me with my problem.
I created the file 'heretic.DS.gba' with the tool provided by the author (obviously using full heretic wad, without BGM) and I inserted it in my gba flashcart (Supercard).

1) If I start the game as it is directly from DS slot2, it doesn't work. It turns out 2 black screens.

2) If I start it from slot2 launched via ysmenu (start + y, passme function), 'Supercard' text appears on the lower screen, the Supercard menu appears, I launch the game but there are still 2 black screens.

3) If I first pass the .ds.gba file into the Supercard software (obviously on a pc) and then start directly from slot2 I have the same result.

4) If I launch this file (passed in the Supercard software) as in point 2) (via ysmenu + passme function) I always have the same result, black screens.

In short, would someone be able to kindly tell me how to make this old heretic port work nowadays, since even with supercard + passme function it does not start?
Has anyone actually, concretely (not just theoretically) managed to make it work?
Isn't there an alternative method to launch it?
It is a pity that an old, classic fps cannot be enjoyed on DS nowdays.
I thank anyone interested in the subject and that could help me.

Since no one has responded to my question, I would like to repeat my request, in the hope that it will not fall on deaf ears again.
Is it possible that no one is interested, or has already managed, to play Heretic, one of the first classic, addicting FPS for dos, on DS consoles?
I'm not repeating, but i confirm, what I already said clearly in the first post: would anyone be able to explain to me precisely how to start an old .nds.gba file (a ds game from slot2) in a different way from how I have already described in the previous 4 points? If it worked in the past, why shouldn't this port work nowadays too?

I know that my answer is not very useful to you but like you I have never managed to get DS Heretic to work, the only way I have found to play Heretic and Hexen correctly on my DS Lite is with my DSTwo + supercard in installing DSTWO Linux Beta1.0 and Hheretic

And if the concern is that "well we can't trust the government to intervene for this because the government can't do anything right and wastes tons of money" then holy shit push for a better government. I'm certainly trying to. Don't throw your hands up and go "we've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas"

@K3Nv2 that's crazily expensive. how long will that take to pay off?

Although diet is largely education, people don't need to go to university to learn what's healthy and what's not,
it's the whole country, big corporations and advertising that is to blame for leading most of the population to believe that poptarts and froot loops are healthy to feed a child
  • mthrnite @ mthrnite:
i would think the population knows better but with food deserts and abject poverty, sometimes a poptart gonna have to do.

As someone who went through the grade school system in the US some time within the past 30 or so years, not nearly enough is done to promote and educate on how to eat healthy in a way that is feasible to do on a regular basis and also affordable. Eating healthy is, comparatively, fucking expensive. So is eating unhealthy, but in many cases eating unhealthy is more affordable than eating healthy

@Sicklyboy I agree, but also it's about self control and realistic thinking. We wouldn't feed a dog soda, so why feed it to ourselves? Eating unhealthy food because it's cheap is one thing, but I'm sure you know people who drink soda routinely when they should be drinking water which is free.
I get it can feel mean to say "no treat sweet beverage for you anymore" but for many people it's just in their way of life.
