So, I have modded my patched V1 switch via hyfly chip. And was able to install Hekate and Atmosphere in order to play mods for TOTK on the switch. I got the mods working but now occasionally the game will freeze, then crash after 30 seconds giving me error code 2002-3540, mainly when the game is manually saved, autosaves, or right after a cutscene. I have tried multiple ways to fix this, reformatting the SD, trying another SD card, checking for any updates. Strangely, if I try to run the game without a SD card it runs into a similar issue but instead gives me error code 2002-5055 or the whole system freezes. Any help is appreciated!

Update: I think I fixed it the game seems to be running great now! and all I did was create a emuMMC then launch using the SD. Not sure why, I dont know much about emuMMC vs. system and I would like to know more info about it for future troubleshooting.
bumping this because I am also getting this error. but the only difference is that I get this when trying to "Initialize" (factory reset) from the settings menu in OFW. no CFW or anything involved.
Could this be a sign of switch hardware failing or anything??

If you get this error without inserting an SD card, then most likely the emmc is failing.
But note that the Switch might access the SD card if you have one during the factory reset.
(It will create the Nintendo folder on it).
In case you tried it with an SD card, then it might be your SD card or some bad connection with the SD card reader.
You might get error 2002-3540 when you use an emunand because the Switch thinks it is writing to the emms but actually it is writing to the SD card.

The System initialization is being done on OFW. with and without the SD card
I did change my sd card and tried as well.
So looks like a bad emmc? I did get a picofly modchip (the hwfly ones) installed, could this be a bad chip or a bad bad installation? trying to pinpoint the problem.
Also, I dit get a slow emmc warning with multiple read and write failures once when restoring a nand backup.
However this was only once, and never again. (tried the hekate check and restoring nand backup multiple times but it always succeeded without any problems)

Did you create the emuMMC with SD partition? I have this error on a switch that was previously banned but it's occurring constantly on eMMC cfw. Is there any way around it?

Yes I created the emuMMC with SD partition, so far I have no idea if there's a way around it or fixing it. I'm mostly glad I'm able to play my game even if it has the be exclusively by launching emuMMC cfw. Though I'd love to figure it out what went wrong considering I did backup my system files before doing anything and even that didn't fix it.

I had to resort to emuMMC as well. Maybe the Atmosphere devs really didn't expect someone to go for a sysnand cfw only config and maybe a few parts of their code require full access to the memory. This is just a guess ofc
Interestingly, the same error is discussed in another thread which suggests that is a hardware error with aliexpress mod chips, which I had to resort to because the official hyfly couldn't ship to my location. Where the resistors don't have the right amount of ohms.

True, but it's not an official one, looking back with my purchase history the chip has been removed from the site, it was sold by "Electronica Digital Store"

There is no official seller as Aliexpress is just a marketplace like ebay, there are different seller, there are some problem with the RP2040, not the older chip, if you bought recently you probably got RP2040.
I have the same error.I don't think it has to do with the latest chips. if so,many people would have this problem.Do you know how can I check my chip's version without opening the switch?
Hi, I also have an imitation HWFLY chip in Pico2040 version, FW 2.75 on Switch V1 erista patched.
During factory reset under OFW 17.0.0 the error message 2002-3540 appears even when there is no SD card in the switch.
I will try to find the problem.
First I'm going to remove the chip and see if I can reset the Switch in OFW without SD card.

Resetting the switch in OFW without the Pico and without the SD is ok, so the "HwFly style" picoFly chip is at fault.
I put the chip back and try another reset to test if the error persists.

The reset was very slow and it ended with error 2002-3540, the error is reproducible, the pico chip is at fault.
I have another new pico chip, I will upgrade it to FW 2.75 and try again.
re:
When the chip is installed, the reset time is estimated at 25-30 minutes.
When the chip is not installed the reset time is estimated at 10-15 minutes.
With a new chip , i tryed and the result is identical.
I think that a test of the nand under hekaté should show a signifiant différence in terms of mbit/sec with or witchout pico"hwfly"!?
result bench nand : With or Without pico , the result is identic 280 mib/s - 28.35 and 22.4 mib/s there is no difference.
ok I'm going to try changing the resistance of the pico.
Post automatically merged:
I measured it on my chip: 47 ohm for rst/clk/cmd, and 250 ohm for dat0
Post automatically merged:
ok, I tried several resistors on dat0 , bench quickly, test boot OFW 17.0.0 without sd card.
50 ohm, the switch does not boot (slow emmc), bench = 150mbi/s
100 ohm, the switch does not boot (slow emmc), bench = 150mbi/s
150 ohm boot ok, 276mbi/s, switch boot but error 2002-3540 at 5% of reset. (estimated time 10 minutes in total)
200 ohm boot ok, 278mbi/s, switch boot but error 2002-3540 at 10% of reset. (estimated time 6 minutes in total)
250 ohm is the original resistance. error at the end of the reset
300 ohm boot ok, 276mbi/s, switch boot "error at the end of the reset". estimated time 30 minutes in total (32minute real)
maybe 200 ohm is the best value and we need to change the value of CLK,..
i test 200ohm for dat0 and 100 ohm for clk , it's same result 30 minute to reset and error at the end.
but looking through the microscope at the connections of the nand and the pico I noticed
1) my nand is dirty and the connector is little damaged, I cleaned then tightened the nand contacts, then I repeated the same test as before:
200ohm for dat0 and 100 ohm for clk, this time the switch did the reset in 15 minutes (better than 30 minutes) but still the error at the end of the reset.
maybe it's not the resistors that are at fault but the pico/switch/nand connections.
it's time to sleep ^^.I will try another nand later or solder the nand directly with wires.

Ok, I tested with a new EMMC (still with 200ohm dat0 and 100 ohm clk), this time the Reset is done in 8 minutes (it's much better) but there is still this error 2002-3540.

Well, I tested this time with a real rp2040 zero, 47ohm for each pin, the reset was done in 6 minutes and it went well, no errors.
the aliexpress pico "resembling hwfly" has a problem.
I tested 100ohm Dat0 and CMd and 47 ohm clk reset, without success,I tested many other values that I have not written here, without success
Finally the solution for my Switch with Pico style hwfly was to change the emmc. (this emmc work good with real pico 2040 zero).
It seems that the picofly version "HwFly" is a little more capricious on the emmc.

Hi, can you elaborate on the solution? How did you create the emuMMC and laucñnch using the SD? I'm having this problem now, it only happens on the stock system, emuMMC runs fine

have this problem too. Guy above said that the issue is with the Clone chip itself. To play online I just run SYSMMC and just be careful not to use anything homebrew.
