Tried this on a PAL wii which got updated last friday to the 23 oct system software.
I hadn't even tried to install the Homebrew Channel on it before the update so the system was "nintendo only".
What I did after the update:
Installed HBC 0.9 on WII with latest updates
Downloaded the needed files for downgrade (djtaz signature)
Formatted SD with FAT32
Unzipped the file onto the SD (make sure APPS and WAD are in the root folder)
Insert SD
Load WAD Manager from the HBC
Install the IOS16
Replace one file on the SD: boot.dol in the
[3587]WAD_manager_v1.3 folder replace by the one in folder
wadmanagerios16
Load WAD Manager from the HBC
Install ciosfix.wad
Run IOS Downgrader (will connect to internet and download patches up to IOS36)
System now shows 3.3E version.
Being unsure if it was succesful, I tried to install a downloaded SuperMario3 WAD file and it worked.
Thanks to all of you who contributed !
Those of you still having difficulties finding the IOS16 file, read this post from the first page after a cup of coffee:
