AHH fvck.

let me start at the very beginning.
So, back in the Philippines, i was a 3rd year HS student, 1 year away from a diploma. but then, papers got filed and we need to go here to Canada. i asked my parents to let me finish, just 1 more fvcking year, so i can get my diploma because I want to go to college in the Phil. (im planning to take up Law there as i aspire to be like Phoenix Wright.) it may sound confusing, but i was willing to go like:

finish HS in Phil. -> get diploma.
go to Canada -> (more papers need to be filed, stay for about 2 years)
go back to Phil. for college -> become lawyer.

i just wanted to finish HS in the Phil. before going to Canada, so there'll be less hassle of going into college.

But my parents didn't let me finish HS, so here i am, just finished 2 months of grade 9 and now moving on to grade 10.
So what i want to know is, what is the equivalent of 4th year HS in the Phil. here in Canada?
can anyone advice me on what to do?

like: if i finish grade 10 or 11, would that be enough to get me in College at Phil.?
if anyone knows, please help me >.<
oh, btw, the reason we need to stay here for a while, is for Permanent Residency something. My parents tell me so that we can have the choice whether we want to live in Canada or Phil.
-----------------------------
side note. *girl related*

another reason why i am rushing going back to the phil. so i could be with my girlfriend. (YES I KNOW I'M STILL YOUNG). she's just someone, i want to keep in my life till the time is right. she said she will wait, but really long distance relationship can kill it.
but really, i want to serve justice.

THANKS GUYS!

As a fellow, Filipino-Canadian immigrant, I do understand your frustration at having to go the extra few years of high school. Fortunately for me, because I'm a bit of a nerd, I actually didn't mind the extra few years. ^^;; Regardless of that, however, I really think you should just go through til grade 12 and take a college here in Canada. (Or university, though there are some extra requirements there like a second language course. Depends on which province you live in though.) Why?

Simple. If you decide to look for work in Canada eventually, then chances are, they'll overlook your Filipino credentials. It doesn't matter what college you went to in the Philippines, the truth of it is that they want people who studied here and have some Canadian experience. It's not fair, but that's how it works. You won't get into the kind of jobs you studied for, and chances are, you'll only get into an entry level minimum wage kind of work.

Alternately, you can just go on living in the Philippines. You can tell your parents that you really prefer living there, and maybe find relatives to stay with until you finished college and found a job you want to go to. Understand, however, that if you do choose to do this, going back to Canada later on in your life will be hard, for the very reasons I mentioned above.

Though, um, just to clear things, are you going there as Permanent Residents, or something else? Because what your parents might be referring to is Citizenship. I mean, you don't need to wait to become a Permanent Resident, not unless your parents are going to Canada on Work Visas first. O_O I dunno. I never really studied about these things. ^^;;

I don't know if it's alright to stop at grade 11 (because these colleges prolly want you to have a High school diploma), though if you really don't want to do the extra years, then just don't go to Canada. It'll be a waste of your time, especially if the Philippines is where you really want to live.

And er, I dunno. Relationships come and go. Personally, I think you should just move on and stay in Canada. But if you really like the girl, well enough that you would sacrifice living in Canada, then go back to the Philippines. It's really up to you. Just don't look to others and blame them if you're unhappy with your life afterwards.

And for curiosity's sake, which province in Canada do you live in? ^^?

ahh thanks for the some answers.

i am in Red Deer, Alberta.

Im kind of nerdy too, but very lazy. thats why i think it's so fucked up i have to do extra years when i could have been finished.

well, right now, my parents have work visa, and i have student visa. thats why we applied for PR.
too late, im already here. At first i was so against going here *see first post

I dont know. I really want to live and work in the Phil.
and I think I can cope with what happens to my life there.

Ohh. >: I live in BC.

Is everyone a year younger than you? When I first went to school here, they put me in Grade 9 and some of it was boring. >_> The Math, for example, was just all repeat for me. But you get used to it. Eventually.

Ohh. Well, even if you do get PR, it's not permanent. :wtf: You still need to apply for Citizenship, otherwise it expires. That's why you just shouldn't bother if you're dead set on living in the Philippines. Talk to them about it. It's hard to go against parents, especially with our culture, but... I dunno. It's your life.

yeah i was in grade 9 this last 2 months. they said i was a brilliant person for having good marks even though i was only there for 2 months, but really, it was all a repeat for me. as for the age, i am 15, and my classmates range from 14 - 16

Yeap, thats how they got me in the first place.
they said "you're my son, you follow everything i say"

well i dont know. I guess this is something i have to wait out first and see what happens next.

People thought I was their Peer Tutor. :wtf: Ugh. At least things now have evened out, education wise.

Just finish High school here, and if you're still willing, go back to the Philippines and don't look back. ;P Really, with that kind of parents, that's the only thing you can do.
