Do H2testw as suggested, it will tell you if it legit or not

@linuxares suggestion is a good way to tell if the card is fake. if flash media is very cheap for what you're getting, it's most likely fake.

if you do the h2testw test don't do the whole storage size, unless you're prepared to wait years. only test like 32gb or something at first

No you got to test the whole card, so you know it is a legit 1TB card.

if it drops to like 0.2mb/s after like 8gb then it's fake, you can start with a smaller test and if it succeeds then go to a bigger size

the drive doesn't register as any higher than 8gb anymore anyway so it's definitely fake and they probably messed with the partition table to make it show as 1tb

possibly messed with the partition table. I've messed with it before to see what would happen. I don't know if this is true of all flash media, but I think the part that gives you size is somewhere on the 3rd hex string in section 0.

The whole point of testing the card was testing the entire card, you be wasting people time telling someone to test only 32GB. Beside Class 10 card write speed is about 20-30MB/s and U3 Class speed is around 70MB/s when testing the card, I got a few before.

Now, this makes me think if/when will I ever need or want to buy a 512GB or 1TB SD card? I'm using a notebook with 1TB and own a couple of TB HDDs, plus some 128GB SD cards it's hard to see the need to.

you're missing the point. if it's a fake card it won't be writing or reading at that speed, i've seen how fake cards act with h2testw
they slow down to like 1.2mb/s tops and at that point testing 1tb at that speed would take actual days

hence first testing at most 32gb so it'll take hours at most, and if it passes test the rest of the size

Drive will still be around, atleast in nvme form factor this generation, you have device that can't take micro sd like Aya Neo so you have rely on NVME SSD.
