Hardware Is it bad

My friend has left his original 60 gig ps3 (cecha01, ps2 backwards compatible) on for hours on end while using disc based games, he claims even days though he doesn't know exactly how long.

I sort of was surprised when he said this because these ps3's are notorious for the YLOD.

Is the percentage of bad systems high or does it just seem that way since on the internet one only needs to do a search and read the volume of complaints.

well i got 60gb SKU and never repaired or modded.. maybe it depends on the person how he take care of the PS3

i just placed my PS3 on a no obstruction on it and well ventilated.. opened for almost 17hours per day. OtherOS is my baby..
