I'm on CFW 3.55 (Kmeaw I think....) and I was wondering if it is possible to use a PS3 to rip Blu-ray movies. If yes how, and what software would I use to convert it to .avi or .mp4?

I read somewhere a long time ago, that there are tools which run on linux through otheros which can create an iso of a blue-ray, which can be sent over your network to a pc and watched using a blueray player. However, sony has long since removed otheros.

Yes, a backup manager named Multiman is able to rip bluerays as a whole, not sure if into standard movie format though, but you can at least rip them on your PS3 and transfer them to a computer where you can find software to rip on there into say .AVI.
