Is there ANY WAY to back out of a RetroArch game, hence BRINGING ME BACK TO THE RETROARCH MENU, WITHOUT SHUTTING DOWN RETROARCH ENTIRELY ???

Usually either L+R+Start+Select, or Start+Select. But most of the time, you have to set it.

From RetroArch Menu (Load Core, Load Content...) - Press Right to go to the Gear Listings (User Interface, Video, Audio...)
Go down to INPUT
Go down to HOTKEYS
Go to MENU TOGGLE
Press Right until you see a Combo you want.
Press X (Default), or O twice to go back to the main Gear Listings again
Press Left to go to the Main Listings.
Go down till you see CONFIGURATION FILE
Press X (Default) to go into it
Go to SAVE CURRENT CONFIGURATION and best to also SAVE NEW CONFIGURATION just in case, and press X (Default)
Press the HOME Button and Exit RetroArch.

You should now be able to get the Menu to Pop up with the Button Combo you Set

SORRY, thank Randy Marsh & The Terminator for info that I've never:

1) Never heard of that in Retroarch, and also

2) This forum has a few good people in it. The rest are (ah shit, I can't even joke about it).

Seriously tho, thanks for ALL OF YOU to chime in, it is much appreciated.

P.S. - Then next person that hides my White Castle cheeseburger in the nuke is gonna get castrated... with EXTRA CHEESE.

DIE REBEL SCUM!!!

I should add, right under MENU TOGGLE (CONTROLLER COMBO), you can set one corner of the touchscreen at the regular MENU TOGGLE. Mine is the bottom left corner (Button 14), just hold the screen for the 2~3s that it takes to register the hotkey.
