A new 3rd party XSX/XSS storage expansion adapter is in the works by a Chinese manufacturer specialized on computer and cameras accessories.

The company is already famous for making custom PCB adapters for cameras and computers and they already sell a regular storage expansion card DIY kit for the current small form factor 2230 SSD, but now they are making a larger adapter in which will allow any regular SSD form factor 2280 and also the small one 2230 form factor to be connected to the XSX/XSS consoles via the storage port on the back of the console.

So far no manufacturers have made a 2280 adapter for the Xbox yet, making them to be the first ones to produce, this will open the window for the hardcore gamers to use have a cheaper and more reliable option than the expensive storage expansion cards available from Seagate.

Yet there’s need to know which 2280 SSDs are compatible with the Series consoles.

The YouTuber “Gamer Nexus” made a teardown video showing an internal 2280 form factor SSD on the Xbox devkit, the model used on this device is a “PC SN720” from Western Digital:

Perhaps this is one of the regular SSD models we will be able use with this custom 3rd adapter, for now we have to wait the manufacturer to finish the production so for us to buy and test it out..
