Depends on your definition of "hack" since there are numerous game exploits that can get you into Swiss and thus booting homebrew software, with only a modded game save on the memory card required.

Regardless of how many diff methods there are to "hack" a GC, either way it goes, the bottom line is, he didn't hack a GC which was the point of my comment.
