Gaming Semi Free Games Thread

Should the original Free Games Thread contain such semi free links too?

  • No, they are not 100 % free so they shouldn't be posted in that thread

  • Yes, if they will be kept even after unsubscribing

Since it appears that people dislike links to free redeemable games from within subscription services such as Amazon Prime in the original "Free Games Thread", you can post those links here.

We start off with two links posted by @onibaku in the mentioned thread, that are claimable if you're currently (!) a Prime member:

Battlefield V: https://gaming.amazon.com/loot/battlefieldv?ingress=amzn&ref_=SM_D5S01_P1_CRWN

Battlefield 1: https://gaming.amazon.com/loot/battlefield1?ref_=SM_D5S01_ODP

Prime itself isn't free obviously but the games are. If you redeem them, you get keys to claim them on EA Origin so you'll keep them forever, even if you cancel your Prime subscription.

Feel free to post such games here.

Also I'll add a poll since I'm not really happy with having two threads for this so depending on the poll we could decide to close this thread and go back to posting even these semi free links in the original thread.

Lightfish

LightFish is a highly addictive arcade game, where the user controls a small fish who lives in the abyssal deeps of the ocean... surrounded by deadly creatures. His objective is to destroy all the monsters who inhabit those dangerous zones by drawing lines onto unexplored territory. However, any enemy who manages to touch the Lightfish will kill him instantly!

LightFish is a classic concept evolved into something new and exciting, with unique features and an original soundtrack. Immerse yourself in a colorful world full of beautiful yet deadly sea creatures and progress through the numerous levels the game offers!

Nice, but it's a "full free game", not a "semi one". :P

If your internet speeds are fast enough. Streaming 4k takes alot. I used to only have 20mb sec, and 4k struggled. Now I have 300mb sec and 4k plays fine.

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
