Well, soon after the 3DS launch in Japan, Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor Overclocked was released, essentially being the same game, while adding Voice Acting and a brand new day, along with improved graphics and animations. The same now appears to be done with it's sequel, Devil Survivor 2, although instead of being called Overclocked, the remake will be called "Break Code".

Destructoid said:
"Devil Survivor 2 Break Code was announced at a Japanese pre-screening event for the upcoming Devil Survivor 2 anime today. Attendees there are saying the remake will launch in Japan this summer, with new story bits and character content added."

Personally I find it quite interesting, I loved the game and a 3DS remake with added content would be welcome, although I'll be hoping this reaches Europe faster than Overclocked, which is just about to be released in Europe next month.

Here's the source which I read:

PS: I tried looking for any news on this over here, if this is already old news, please lock the thread.

Words can not describe how excited I am.
I loved the game, it had some improvements over its predecessor, so I'm hoping this remake will have even better graphics than Overclocked and more improvements in general.

I sadly didn't get a chance to play Overclocked since I lack a 3DS, but it is going to be my first game once I get a 3DS.
Still I really enjoyed this game for the DS!

It's not old news, it was announced about two days ago.
God I love ATLUS so much.
I meant old news figuratively, like, it could've been posted before somewhere, although I didn't find it while searching. xP

I love Atlus games, but I don't like them because they don't make a friggin European HQ as well. T_T
It takes too long for their games to reach our shores.

Can't wait for its not localization.

But in all seriousness though, SMT is okay. Devil Survivor was tolerable (which is saying a lot from me being both a SRPG and a JRPG) but I preferred Strange Journey more.

Love this game, one of my top 5 DS games, not really sure if the extra content will make me want to play it but this still means all those people that passed up on it because it was on DS will actually play it now, which is good enough for me.

I actually preferred Devil Survivor to Strange Journey. The whole "we've got seven days to end the lockdown or we're all going to die" angle was neat, but made more interesting by the way that everyone inside the lockdown was just an average person in the wrong place at the wrong time. The riots, the lynch mobs, the gangsters and corrupt police officers... Everything that happened would happen in a situation like that. Devil Survivor, to me, was almost like the developers wanted to explore what would happen if everyone was given the use of the Devil Summoning Program, whereas usually Shin Megami Tensei games only infer that such a thing would be very bad. Heck, the wide variety of endings were just a bonus - how many games have not only an ending where you essentially become a God but also have an ending where you actually run away from your responsibilities because everything became too much for you?

I'm playing Overclocked right now. I held off playing it on DS because I knew about the 3DS remake, and I always thought it would be weird playing the first one on 3DS and then going back to DS to play the second one lol

So needless to say I'm excited.

@SylverReZ, that game is one of the reasons i met newgrounds bc the full versión of it is in that site
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    Also somebody is remaking it
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, the other game where I found newgrounds is new york shark

Spoke to Tom Fulp the other day, if he can find his old Newgrounds site content like the mini Flash animations from the 2000's that played on the portal.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
So far no response, but he did say that he'll find them. Wayback Machine doesn't have em.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, atleast the 1999 versión of pico's school is avaliable (the difference between it, the 2006 versión and the 2016 versión is that the speed of the game depends of the speed of your computer and that it had the og soundtrack)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Another being Pico VS Bear, the original 1999 version before Jim Henson filed a DMCA takedown.
    +1
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
The 2006 versión was made when the flash portal was made
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Many people thought it was lost, but was discovered that he hid it on the same page.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, although the "secrets" system where the game was has been removed. Also pico vs uberkids had a netplay versión that was shutdown, although the swf file has been found
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Nope. There are two download buttons on the same page, where you can download the original under a file called "bear.exe". "bear2.exe", however, is the updated game in a Flash projector. P.s. this was on the archived Pico page from 2000.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's been there for a long time, too. People who search for lost media don't look hard enough lmao.

@SylverReZ, also the pico 2 demos used to be only for the newgrounds patrons but they are on internet archive too (https://archive.org/download/picos_school_2)

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
Iirc the demos were removed from newgrounds in 2022
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, or well only the demo with mindchamber's style was on newgrounds

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
Fun fact @SylverReZ: iirc one of the goals on the fnf Kickstarter stated that pico 2 would be finished but the Kickstarter didnt get enough money for that goal to be fullfiled
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, FNF sucks, their community is toxic as hell.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@SylverReZ its a single player game
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@The Real Jdbye, Yea but it has a shitton of mods with their own songs and stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@The Real Jdbye, and quite a lot of people involved in those mods get cancelled
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Newgrounds wasn't the birth of FNF; rather, it was games where you beat up celebrities and parodies.
