THIS PROGRAM IS NO LONGER IN DEVELOPMENT AND IT WILL NOT RECIEVE ANY UPDATES, it was just a practice project for myself anyway, i thought i had an original idea but it seems like @RealYoti fixed the issue waay back in 2011.

spoofix is a PSP homebrew that fixes the "The system version of your PSP™ system version is 9.90. There is no need to update" issue on 5.50 GEN-D firmwares. This homebrew program basically backs up your system's verison.txt to your Memory Stick, then replaces the system's version.txt with the unspoofed one. This allows you to unspoof your firmware from 9.90 to 5.50 so you can update your PSP without any issues.
It also has a backup detection so if anything goes wrong for some reason you can just rerun the program. The program will automatically replace the system's unspoofed version.txt with your old one.
The program was tested many times on my PSP 1003 running the 5.50 GEN-D3 & 6.61 PRO-C2 firmware. I'd appreciate if anyone could test it and report the results to me!

I made a "version txt switcher" homebrew more than 10 years ago and it can fix 9.90 error)
Oh hey Yoti! Firstly I want to thank you for all your contrubitions in the PSP scene. I already knew about your homebrew, but it looks like it doesn't come with a version.txt and that might be confusing for a noob user. This homebrew basically has everything setup (specifically for the 9.90 issue, because it's the only purpose of this homebrew unlike your homebrew which is a version.txt switcher), the user just has to put the folder to the /PSP/GAME/, run the app then the homebrew makes everything automatically, even with a RSOD protection (the PSP gives a RSOD if it fails to locate the version.txt, according to my tests) and it launches the Sony updater automatically (though those are v0.2 features, which is going to be released soon). I will definitely credit you in the next release if that's what you're asking for, after all you have the original idea and I fully respect that. I just wanted to clarify everything. Thank you!

Dont mean to necro this but wow.
What a great HB app. this is why I love the HB community. Spent such a long time searching multiple ways to resolve this and this one app solved it all in under a minute.

If your internet speeds are fast enough. Streaming 4k takes alot. I used to only have 20mb sec, and 4k struggled. Now I have 300mb sec and 4k plays fine.

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
