Wanted to update to v18. Followed the guide to update atmosphrere and hekate. (
https://nh-server.github.io/switch-guide/extras/updating/#updating-your-firmware). I did that, it loaded fine. The portion about updating firmware is confusing here, I just remember using Daybreak in the past so I did it again and updated to v18 using it and then it rebooted but didn't work anymore. I didn't touch files on the dongle as I don't remember if it's necessary and it isn't mentioned anywhere.
The way they handle update is by updating your sysNAND to the latest, followed by dumping your sysNAND's firmware and installing it via Daybreak on emuNAND. I usually download firmware files from that certain site we aren't allowed to link to and just update via Daybreak, leaving my sysNAND on whatever firmware it was previously on. I'll keep it on lowest possible, just in case another exploit is found that works on firmware I'm at.
As for the dongles, if you have a knock-off, you probably have a somewhat recent version of Hekate's payload which doesn't need to be updated as it checks whether bootloader/update.bin exists on your SD card and, if newer, launches that one. Otherwise, if it's official and if you're using Atmosphere's fusee.bin, you'll need to update that one for it to work.
First I had error "failed to apply nosigchk". I read it has something to do with sig patches that weren't mentioned in the guide. I googled and probably installed something I shouldn't have. I found a link to sys patches and installed them. Nothing changed, I found another link, this time for sig patches (didn't recognize the difference in names at first). Installed them too.
It's related to bootloader/patches.ini file from the sigpatches, if I recall correct. It needs to be updated as well.
It looks like it worked but now I get "Panic ocurred while running Atmosphere". Google said I need to delete a folder that mentioned in the error there. I did that, but now I'm getting Error Code: 2001-0123 (0xf601) and walls of texts.
Outdated sys-module?
Hmm. Deleted another folder in atmosphere/contents (that was mentioned in the error) and now it works
Yep, seems like it. Glad that you've sorted it out. ^^
Anyway, whenever you're about to update your firmware and before you do so, make sure that both
Hekate and
Atmosphere support the latest firmware or the firmware you're currently updating to. If they do, check if the
sigpatches are updated to support the latest firmware and Atmosphere version. Sigpatches also work retroactively, meaning that if you're on a lower versions of firmware and Atmosphere, it should still work properly.
While sigpatches should be enough for game backups to work, you can install
sys-patch module as well. Having both sigpatches and sys-patch at the same time should cause no conflict at all, but it's recommended to stick to one that works for you in order to reduce the clutter on your SD card since they are doing the same thing.
If everything seems okay, update Hekate and Atmosphere first, followed by sigpatches. Once you do that, update firmware via Daybreak as well. If you plan to connect to the Internet in order to download additional homebrew among other reasons, make sure that you have either
90DNS or
DNS MITM in place.
Hi guys,i have a question:since i'm running out of space on my sdcard on the Switch,if i wanted to move the saves of games that i uninstalled some time ago to a new sdcard with Atmosphere, what procedure should i do?
You can backup and restore your saves with
JKSV.
