Hacking Transferring rom save games to commercial carts

I can't imagine this question not being asked before here, but I couldn't find anything with the search engine so far. But do please point out if there are topics.

My situation is that with my M3 Perfect Final Fantasy 6 keeps hanging at a certain part in the game (the opera part) and I figured I might as well buy the original game (that'd be the 3rd version, heh) and I would LOVE to continue with my save games.

So is there a way to load my m3 save game to the original game?

I have a feeling the M3 uses an odd save format for GBA but your best bet is the fantastically titles GBA Game Save Backup Utility by chism:

Soldering that cable is the only option to get this working?

There is a cart swapping based app at the bottom of the page. Some carts do not agree with being taken out though.
