you are born, you do nothing and care a shit about it, then have to study for 12 years and if you repeat the year you have to study more, then you have to study 6 years more + 10 years if you want "more chances to get a job", marriage, divorce, retire and die. school is forced by the law so you have to study for 12 years even if you don't want to. parents the only thing that they want you to do for life is to STUDY.
i used to dread having to maintain a routine for the rest of my life and i resonate with the parent part. once i started taking life less seriously though, paid more attention to my own needs over doing whatever thing that would please my parents, and enjoyed the small things (cheesy oops), i haven't thought about the impending stress/anxiety i'm going to have in the future as much anymore

@aerglass my friend, I'm touched on how you feel about school. Indeed school or college are not passports to a wealthy life the same way that the lack of study is not a sentence of poverty.

This thing is probabilistic, you get better chances if you have a piece of paper telling you know stuff, aka a diploma. I know that it is dumb, I even agree that it is dumb, but in the end a lot of dumb stuff is enforced to us, so accepting and doing your best on it still is the safest path you can take.

Also, if you have problems in your school or college try to understand where those problems came from, if those have solution, maybe ask for assistance or try other schools/colleges if it is possible.

About your parents, I don't know nothing about your life, so I can't give an opinion, but me as a parent can assure 2 things:
1- most parents I know do have a genuine good intention when force their kids to do something.
2- parents are humans, sometimes they do shitty mistakes when trying to do the right thing, so when you see ti happening, don't be sad, try to carry on.

Brazil looked promising when Bolsonaro was in power, but now it's Lula again and things just don't look good at all. For example, if people there want welfare support they'll need to get a medical injection to be eligible... If people can be financially independent then they should rather than rely on a government to do so.

However, Brazil is part of the BRICS so all is not lost unless Lula decides to pull Brazil out of the BRICS (if that were possible).
everything there about Brazil is wrong.

Vaccine cards were obligatory just to go to public events (music shows, stadiums and so on), this was during Bolsonaro's term and did not lasted a lot. Lula did nothing about covid or vaccines since returned to power. (To be honest, he did nothing at all, but this is beyond the subject).

Brazil in BRICS means nothing, as it is just a name for meeting that involved nations do very sporadically, it has no schedule, no ending report and no formal agreement about it.

Also Brazil was not promising during Bolsonaro's term, it was the leader with the worst average GDP growth on our History.

Yup that would be a life if you did absolutely nothing with it. A waste, so to speak. Ahoy with the prejudices about marriage. It can end well or not start at all. Same with retirement, you only would if you work at all. Being born and death, those are certain.

The value comes on what you use your skills to make your life meaningful to you.

Your parents want you to study because they or their parents did not, and discovered life is 10x harder without studies.

marriage, divorce, retire

You made some great observations in your post but you've missed one important point. The three steps listed above are optional.

Your frustrations seem to be in two parts:

1 - Being forced to study for a certain amount of years

2 - Nothing to really look forward to after the studies are finished.

Part 1 you can't do anything about. You just need to grit your teeth an deal with it. If you aren't excited about what might happen when you finish your studies, then of course that makes this phase all the more difficult. I know, I've been there.

As for part 2, nothing to look forward to. I was there, too. The big problem is when you're going through your studies, you're generally told how life is going to be: you're going to get a job, get married, have some kids and then retire. Most people are actually fine with this, but for some people there's a big empty feeling of "that's is? That's all there is?".

But it doesn't have to be that way. There are plenty of alternate ways through life that don't follow the standard pathway. Choosing an alternative path is not easy; you're always going against society's norms and you will face challenges that others never will in their lives. You'll also always find people questioning your choices. It's never easy swimming against the tide, So if you don't believe you'll be happy following the approved norms and want to do something different be prepared to accept that there will be challenges along the way, and not a lot of sympathy when things are going wrong. If you're prepared for that then you'll be in a better place than most who decide to go their own way.

You just need to work out what you want from life.

Life, is only what You make of it. :teach:

This is simply not true.

Some people put in little effort and have a shit life.

A few people put in little effort and luck into a great life.

Some people put in lots of
effort, are justly rewarded for doing so, and have a great life.

Some people, however, put lots of effort in but still are unlucky and have a bad life, or at least long periods of struggles where they aren't being rewarded for the effort they apply.

So, yes, you're far more likely to have a good life if you put the effort in, but there's no guarantee of that. And expecting everything to be smooth sailing just because you're trying hard is setting yourself up for disappointment.

Those 12 years of school are the easiest part of life, so enjoy it. It only gets tougher after that.
I hear that a lot, mostly from people who peaked in high school.

Kids have next to no autonomy, independence, agency or mobility, and if someone lucks out and is content with the situation they find themselves in through accident of birth, that's great, but if they're not, they are stuck until the day they can make enough money to escape.

After highschool I got a job, and just been working to survive ever since. That's why I said what I said, it's the easiest part of life, so don't squander it. Because after you're done with school, then you have to get a place to live, and pay outrageous rent, and find supplies tal income gimmicks because your wages aren't enough to cover rent AND bills.

...ask me how I know. 👀

I've had similar experiences to this since I've been in and out of college. I'm trying my best to cope by doing more activities in a lot of my spare time - visiting thrift stores and flea markets, repairing and modding game consoles, building electronics, speaking to friends, etc.

Have you experienced grief?
I mean real, lasting grief. Or the heartbreaking decision of letting a faithful pet companion go after fighting for days, weeks, months to save them and losing the battle.

Once you do, once you feel the emptiness, you'll realize how little everything else matter.

Life is not all about study, I never study!
I have good life ;)
After wasting 18 years off my time at school, I start working till 2001 then 9/11 come.
Got fired, no work for almost 2 years. Then got working at a social work place.
22 years later got a big apartment, got married, work at ICT place.
Now we have a new kitchen, so I can cook and drink allot off beer.

@aerglass

I think it's a question of point of view, you can actually tell yourself that studying is boring but you can also tell yourself that accumulating knowledge will open many doors for you in the future, the more you study, the more possibilities you will have at the end of your studies which will lead you to realize yourself more quickly, life is short so avoid wasting time.

On the other hand, you can have several lives in one life (no, I'm not talking about "lives" like in video games ^^), I just mean that what you are doing now will not necessarily be the same thing in 10 years or 20 years from now, life is a winding road that brings its share of good and bad things and we all have to deal with it, studies or not, luck and bad luck are part of the game, the education that we receive from our parents, the studies we conduct are just weapons to travel this path as easily as possible even if sometimes it does not seem to be the case.

Afterwards you must also realize that knowledge leads to reflection, to the emancipation of the mind and therefore to freedom, a powerful weapon that allows you to live serenely without having to endure too violently the classic patterns established or even to break them.

We must not forget that what symbolizes success for some is not necessarily the same thing for others. For some, a stable situation at all levels will be synonymous with success because it is reassuring, while for others who aspire to a more adventurous life (but more risky, you have to be aware of this) it will be quite the opposite because the weight of the daily routine will be an obstacle to their own development.

You will never be able to control chance or luck but for the rest, you are the master of your destiny.

Remember that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Do not forget either that out of love for your loved ones and for their good, your parents, your wife, your children life will lead you to do things that you will not necessarily like and that is where the most important thing because it's a subtlety that we must not lose sight of, happiness and satisfaction also go through what we give to those we love, to give you an example before meeting my wife, I was earning very well my life, I had a great job but after a while I couldn't find my way around, I needed calm, today I earn a lot less in a rather boring job but that's not serious, I live in peace with just enough money to live but I am psychologically appeased and because I am well and I am happy in my life this affects my loved ones and in particular in my life as a couple and my family life, that's true happiness, as said above, you have to know how to be satisfied with simple things.

On the other hand, I don't know what tomorrow is made of but what I'm sure of is that in life things are temporary so with age and experience, I learned to enjoy the present moment, it doesn't prevent me from having problems but it taught me to take a step back and manage the unexpected with more serenity.

Life isn't just white or black, it's a gradation of gray going from the lightest to the darkest, you just have to keep the focus on the essential things and focus on the positive even if it's not not easy every day.

And then we're not going to lie to each other, if everything was easy, we'd be pissed off quickly, right?

Life is boring because we have forgotten how to enjoy the little things.
I've experienced the little things a bajillion times, and it's boring. I crave more. Only technology and the supernatural can even keep my attention anymore.

we are humans, our joy comes from interacting with other people, eating, seeing new things, exercise

modern internet age has left a lot of us indoors and separated from all of the things that naturally make us happy

I used to drink alcohol fairly often. Never to the point of it being a problem, but like 2-3 beers with dinner each night, or a few cocktails or glasses of Scotch or something. Started smoking/vaping weed a lot a few years back which killed 90% of my interest in booze. Now I stopped smoking/vaping weed as much and just deal with life the boring way most of the time

@SylverReZ, atleast the 1999 versión of pico's school is avaliable (the difference between it, the 2006 versión and the 2016 versión is that the speed of the game depends of the speed of your computer and that it had the og soundtrack)

@SylverReZ, although the "secrets" system where the game was has been removed. Also pico vs uberkids had a netplay versión that was shutdown, although the swf file has been found

@Xdqwerty, Nope. There are two download buttons on the same page, where you can download the original under a file called "bear.exe". "bear2.exe", however, is the updated game in a Flash projector. P.s. this was on the archived Pico page from 2000.
