Okay I've decided to give the Wiinja a try. However, I would feel much more comfortable soldering a socket in, and just putting the Wiinja chip inside of that.

I just wanted to make sure that what I was looking at was the right thing- this is the right size socket to insert the Wiinja chip into, right?

I'm a little worried about soldering the legs of the Wiinja chip, since they're so close together, so I assume it would be safer to do it to a socket, rather than directly to the chip.

I hope you realize that the points on the board are ten times smaller and close together than the legs of the chip.

Yeah, but if I use the socket, then I would kind of minimize my chances of failure by giving me less opportunity to screw up, by buying a part for under a dollar.

i think it is a good idea! specially if a new chip will come around the block, it will be more easy to replace

I wouldn't buy a socket thinking that a future modchip could just plug in its place, as they will likely be of a different size or use different solder points, but I agree it's a good idea to use a socket to protect your Wiinja.

Is there room for the Wiinja and a socket in the Wii? Where should it be placed?
