DVD and CDs scratch way too easily and can't be reused, with the exception of rewritables. Cartidges are just expensive. Floppy disk are too slow and don't hold any room.

I'd say a hard drive would be my favourite format for holding games. Especially on the pc. Very fast access so you don't have long loading times, unlike if it was on dvd.

And since flashcarts are like catridges, I love them too! Only when they are loaded with ROMs though.

My favourite format for what? For storing? Owning? Pirating? Throwing as a frisbee?

I'm not entirely sure how to answer this question because some people have answered it in terms of pirating and the rest have answered it in more generally which makes the poll less valid because people are realistically answering different questions.

My favorite type is cartridges.
I like the ease of use, and the fact that you can save right on them (usually, i'm sure someone out there will find the proof to disprove my statement)
The down side is the fact that these are usually battery run, so when the battery runs out it's not good for much. The new ds carts fixed this problem, and i thank them very much for it. (maybe it's just with the flash devices.... again, i don't know)
DVDs are great because you can fit huge good looking games on them. I like this but I'm also really good at dropping and breaking DVDs.

UMDs are just like diskettes without the ability to have built in saves, blah. UMDs also only work in psp, and what good is that?

Whatever the other choices are are just crap.

You are correct on both counts. SNES and earlier used a battery on the cartridge for save information. This means any cart more than 5-10 years old will lose all save information after being unplugged. The newer formats use flash memory which is nonvolatile.
