For someone who's been dead since the third movie, he sure does keep popping up.
Probably because Tobin Bell carries like 50% of the movie with his presence alone.
And it's not flashbacks or recordings or memories this time. In order to have John Kramer front and center, this movie is set between Saw and Saw 2 while he's very much alive.
The franchise has become a very convoluted mess by now, and it will be interesting to see where in the canon they will slot this installment. I'm hoping they just ignore all the plots and subplots and retcons and just make this one stand alone. But who knows.
Also, in an attempt to recreate the viral maymay potential of Barbenheimer, the studio is lumping Saw with an unlikely companion premiering on the same date: Paw Patrol.
That's right, Saw Patrol.
Personally I think they should have gone with Morbius.
