Nintendo Switch Online adds four new classic games this month

There's new additions to the Nintendo Switch Online library available to play. The month of March sees four new games added, ranging from the NES, SNES, and Game Boy. Xevious is a shmup for the NES, there's puzzle antics in BurgerTime Deluxe for the original Game Boy, and Side Pocket is a SNES billiards experience, while the well-known Kirby's Dream Land 2 headlines the selection of titles.

dude, who hurt you?
I know right  - Don't get me wrong, this is one helluva lineup of games that deserves all the criticism it's getting on this thread, but this Spider_Man lad: I'm beginning to think Shigeru Miyamoto broke into his house on Christmas morning when he was a kid and pissed all over his presents...

a data east game

from 1985 that was ported to several consoles in the 90s while said company was literally going through bankruptcy and was hacked apart and that might as well have been sold to the lowest bidders for all the good those other companies have done AFTER telling everyone like the day before christmas that they're all out of a job

wow thanks nintendo really nice to have all these cool games. i guess Kirby's nice but what about ALL THE GAMES AND PROPERTIES YOU GUYS YOURSELVES LITERALLY OWN

Burger Time Dexlue and Side Pocket seem like good times. finally we get all 3 K:DL games on NSO and Xevious seems like a wasted slot IMO.

As a new subscriber of the service, I gotta admit that I'm very happy with it since I got all those games all at once. Plus, I've never owned an N64, Genesis or any of the gameboys so there're a lot of reasons for someone like me to get excited about :)

But yeah, I understand how it looks for returning subscribers - the new add-ons are subpar to say the least. If they want to make amends, they should give us Gamecube games too (another console I've never owned...)

I take it you're Gen Z?... Those games you're referencing that are a part of NSO were originally created at a time when there was true ingenuity and experimentation in the gaming industry. I would consider it to be the golden age of gaming (which molded my childhood; oh, what a time it was to be alive). Nowadays, a lot of games are clones of one another which doesn't impress me as much.
S/N: It's N64, NOT 'NS4,' lol.

Nah, I'm quite the 90s kid just, just always were a PS fan. And thanks for pointing out that typo!
I agree that those titles stem from the golden era of gaming, though I think that the original Deus Ex, Planescape: Torment, Symphony of the Night and Metal Gear Solid are even better examples of it than anything Nintendo-made. The fixation on making the games accessible to all ages works against Nintendo in that regard.

Still, I thoroughly enjoyed A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time (have yet to try Majora's Mask) and Super Metroid. So, got my money's worth so far :)

Well, I've actually been big on emulation for quite some time which is how I play most of my older titles w/o the need for original hardware. I was introduced to it in Jr High School around '98 when a classmate was playing SNES on a DOS computer and I went all in [on emulation] when I started college in '04 and never looked back, and still going strong to this day. However, Nintendo never really gave a d@mn a/b their legacy catalog of historic/past titles until the 'retro craze' started to take effect back in 2016. I do understand that Nintendo did offer the "Virtual Console" but its implementation seemed more like an afterthought compared to how NSO is fully fleshed out now. I consider it an overreach for them to even charge a monthly subscription to play those older titles [that are tied to their servers] when there's plenty of other alternative options to play those same games so I don't really see there being much value in what NSO has to offer in my opinion. I would be in agreeance had Nintendo allowed users to pay for the older titles 'à la carte' style, but I understand capitalism and that they're in business to make money.
