Ok this is not to indicate a renewed desire to post. Still massively bummed out.
But thanks for the comments in the preceding blog entry.
Still goner on the other site (will be till early May). When I get back on, I plan to edit my profile and leave properly. They lost me for good there. You don't shit on a friend, and then expect the friendship magically returns after a 3 month ban. Nope it's over, the same as you don't suddenly like your ex wife again after the 3 month process of sorting out the divorce (the wife and I are fine btw that is just an example).
But today I was given a happy birthday wish from a member. So I followed the link (I had ditched my bookmark to here) and thanked him (I'm 49 now).
And I thought about it.
I have no beef with you kids eh. By the way, anyone under 40 is a kid to me, not just you teenagers.
I have a beef with miserable fucking old men that play wargames among other things.
They also argue about Obama all the fucking time.
And a lot of other things just a bit too much.
They never debate which anime is the best, or what is the best place to buy an Acekard.
I never discuss games with them outside of wargames.
Naturally, the thread is never about their room, their porn stash (and how to hide it), their teachers, or just about anything that is usual and important to you guys.
I kinda like that I can maaaaaaaybe have soooooooome possible use to someone around here simply for being old enough to have seen enough, that I might have an interesting perspective.
I can tell you, in my 49 years, my biggest regret, was growing up and becoming one of the bastards I now have no desire to ever be with again.
I now label myself a 49th level teenager.
Take my advice, do NOT give up anything that you like currently.
Keep being a kid.
Be immature regularly. Enjoy doing it.
Piss off an adult (without breaking any laws of course).
You will thank me later.
Mid life crisis? no. I am not trying to rediscover my youth. I quit my adult status though.
I like my anime.
I like making models.
I enjoy playing 4th edition D&D.
I have no desire to be serious and grown up and miserable.
I currently am running a 4th edition game, and two of the players are 16 and 17 with a third that is the 16 year old girl friend of the other 16 year old.
And they are more fun to be with than most adults too I have found.
It was silly to contemplate ditching GBATemp simply because I was angry at adult saturated forums.
I have ditched all my adult saturated wargamer forums though.
They recently released a wargame I might want back in grumpy old bugger land.
In the past, I would have bought it.
Sorry, you people threw me away like trash.
If it is worth having, I know where I can get it for free later.
My support comes with a price.
Either way, I went and book marked GBAtemp again.
I don't know how much I will be back here.
The 3DS doesn't really appeal to me.
Very little else seems to grab me in Nintendo software any more.
And technology seems to be heading towards some form of hand held quasi computer doodad that can read books full page size and run some of my wargames.
Provided the world doesn't end next year, I might in time try and score one of those thingys.
But I can't see any reason to progress past my Nintendo DSi XL.
