War of the phones or war on our wallets?

well every 3 months companies are releasing newer models boasting more ram more cpu speed new os upgraded minor things
i used to buy a new phone every 6 months untill i realised that all those new things didnt change anything in my real time usage.
i see the war of companies and laugh ,also the prices apple ,samsung etc sky high prices for minor improvements.
they dont respect the customer, they try to push you to buy newer phone cause they wont update the os or the dont honor the warranty
also powerconsumption is huge in the good days a mobile phone was mobile you could use it for 4-5 days without charging ,now for my dissapointment every 1- 2 days the new powerfull mobiles need charge
what ? they cannot put a greater battery on them
also whats the fuzz with micro sim mini sim etc why we need smaller sim cards? they dont bother us a lot why to change the form of sim,or they are trying to push us to more expenses.
i took a stance here my last expensive phone will be used for as long as it can work and i wont buy expensives smartphones
untill they respect the clients and release really usufull things what i can do a quad core if the os doesnt utilise all cores ,or what i can use a mobile when all abilities on it are locked...

well i end my thoughts about it

I know where you are coming from. Seeing this whole rise of the phone wars and price has long put me off buying into new phones etc bought a HTC Desire last year and this year HTC after only bothering to release updates as far as a beta of ICS. After rooting and turning s-off though I have been able to install a rom of jellybean and it still runs smooth as fuck, going to show that manufacturers are only looking to push you onto the next model. Will by a new phone? yes one day, probably when the battery konks out or I feel I have had a long enough life out of my current phone, I dont believe in changing a phone due to being "bored" of it should count

well... for iOS its simple, buy a phone, when the specs of yours and current gen are too far apart, sell old buy new. However having to keeping the jailbreakability in mind is kind of a hassle.

For android phones I only got one word: Fragmentation

Nah, just skip every other generation. i.e. 2g>3GS>4S>5S

I rarely upgrade unless I need it.

I mean phones are designed to be antiquated quickly, its been a common trick in technology. Plus right now there's a lot of competition as the smartphone market is still relatively new. Samsung, Apple, whatever are trying to one-up each other and trying to push their brand harder.

But competition breeds innovation. The longer they're at "war" the better they'll become. A one-sided monopoly on the market is a lot worse that a struggle between brands. If Apple had complete market control they wouldn't even have to bother with making upgrades. They'd simply make older devices not able to function after a time and require you to buy a newer device, even if it's not much better. At least here you have both choices and products that continually grow.

Got a Sony ericsson Satio.
Got it for well over 2.5 years.
I also have an SE Xperia X1 which has Windows mobile 6.5 iirc

I have no intention of upgrading to Android nor do I ever want an Apple product.
For as long as those work I'll keep using them.
