You must make a classic version of a console. What games do you put on it?

I would make a Portable Wii.

Nintendo already beat me to the punch with the Switch Form-Factor, so the only difference is that the Portable Wii will have all of Wii's Classic Games.

I also expect this Comment to age like Milk ...

I limited my selection of games to about 30 or slightly above 30 iirc. It's hard to limit what is a big library of great games into that while including enough representation from Sony and the other classics on the PS2!
I think the hardest part is considering (if all games have No licensing issued and are fair game) which sequels to include or not. Say, Sonic 1, 2, and 3 would be definite picks if I made a Genesis Classic, but in my GameCube list, I thought to only pick SA2 (it aged better), only one Mario Party, etc, to have better variety. I'm not sure which would please hypothetical customers more.

Yeah, that's why you only see DMC1 and DMC3 on the list, because DMC2...is DMC2:

Mostly copy paste games?
One Pokémon game (max two) would suffice. I mean, it's not that the games mechanics are so different between each. Same as Castlevania: Circle of the Moon. It's nice, but non canon, so it can go.
I'd put there Final Fight One, Super Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper, Super Puzzle Fighter, Mario Kart, F-Zero Maximum Velocity

Hang on...we're doing portable "consoles" as well? Move over...here comes my dream classic gameboy line-up:

1. Super Mario land
2. Super Mario land 2: 6 golden coins
3. Super Mario land 3: Wario land
4. Kirby's dream land 2
5. Tetris
6. Zelda: Link's awakening
7. Donkey kong classic
8. Metroid 2: return of Samus
9. Mole Mania
10. Castlevania 2: Belmont's revenge
11. Gargoyle's quest
12. Mega man 5
13. Final fantasy adventure (aka: Mystic quest)
14. Balloon kid
15. Mario Picross 2
16. Pokémon Blue & red
17. Bubble bobble
18. Harvest moon GB
19. Tetris attack GB
20. Dr. Mario
21. Kid Dracula
22. Parodius
23. Duck tales
24. Wario Land 2
25. RC Pro Am
26. Mega man Wily's revenge
27. Bionic commando
28. Kirby's pinball land
29. Final Fantasy legend 2
30. Yoshi's cookie

Runners-up:
Kirby's dream land
Pokémon Yellow version

Hmm...this was much tougher than I thought. I played A LOT of GB games, but I have to admit most don't really hold up today. I was about to stop at twenty, but after some digging, the last ten are hardly a step down in quality (okay...compared to 11-20, that is).
I also have to note that I haven't really played all of these games. Like...I know metroid's a classic, but I never would have picked it myself (and I still haven't played a pokémon game yet :P ). But again: this is a list based on what's essential on the system, not my personal choises.

No wonder you won that poll between you and Chary that I put up based on an idea I literally came up with 5 minutes before making it!

If it's needed to keep you healthy it shouldn't cost you $90k. The fact that it does is an enormous problem

@K3Nv2 that's crazily expensive. how long will that take to pay off?

Although diet is largely education, people don't need to go to university to learn what's healthy and what's not,
it's the whole country, big corporations and advertising that is to blame for leading most of the population to believe that poptarts and froot loops are healthy to feed a child
  • mthrnite @ mthrnite:
i would think the population knows better but with food deserts and abject poverty, sometimes a poptart gonna have to do.

As someone who went through the grade school system in the US some time within the past 30 or so years, not nearly enough is done to promote and educate on how to eat healthy in a way that is feasible to do on a regular basis and also affordable. Eating healthy is, comparatively, fucking expensive. So is eating unhealthy, but in many cases eating unhealthy is more affordable than eating healthy

@Sicklyboy I agree, but also it's about self control and realistic thinking. We wouldn't feed a dog soda, so why feed it to ourselves? Eating unhealthy food because it's cheap is one thing, but I'm sure you know people who drink soda routinely when they should be drinking water which is free.
I get it can feel mean to say "no treat sweet beverage for you anymore" but for many people it's just in their way of life.
