Brilliant! i was actually looking for something like that too!
But that doesnt work for the games that need the alternate .dol patch, does it?

and (off topic, but) would anybody know anything about the launching VC backups from the SD channel (without downgrading and upgrading your firmware?)

after you get the red steel dol file and put into altdol folder( or whatever folder you like to use). be ensure you enter correct path in the USB loader setting 'Custom Path' under Alt dol X:\ (by default) to your folder you put the dol file. it should work!!

Thanks, but i was refering to Loadstructor, not a USB loader. If it just makes a .wad then i wouldn't think it would have any settings.
I cant get Red Steel to load on rev600, works fine on rev 543 (homepage). Which is odd, since later versions dont normally *lose* compatibility (except vista...)

"Extract redsteel.dol with wiiscrubber, and use usb loader gx rev 543 + alt dol +fix 002"

So i swapped the boot.dol in the apps/ush_loader gx folder with r543.dol and renamed it boot.dol, which i assumed would be how it worked. And it did.
But its still odd.

and wont load the game if i run the forwarded USB Loader GX on the Wii Menu, only when i run it from the HBC.

Is there a list anywhere with the file offset for known alt dols? I am putting in a list into USB Loader GX to make it easier to load these and I just need to know the number of the file within the iso for each game. You can either use rev 608+ of our app or you can look in wiiscrubber for this magic number.

There may be other ways to get this. I really don't care how you get them but if you could point me to a list or pm me with any that you have it would help out the cause. I just need the 6 digit game ID and the offset.

Thanks.

Why don't you just take the code from NeoGamma that looks that up in the fst.bin?

i would like to try it this way because the point in the program that we get to the apploader, all the gui stuff has already been stopped. we already have a disc browser that can look at the contents of the iso and let the user select the dol manually. i am wanting to have the app already know the alt dol that is needed so we don't even have to use the disc browser unless they just want to see the contents of the iso.

Why don't you collect the disc ids and the .dol names in this case? Well the .dol names would only be required for games with more than 2 .dols on the disc.

I didn't deem the question worthy enough of it's own thread.. so forgive the bump.

Whenever I try to boot MKA w/ the alternate dol, the ONLY menu choice I can pick is the little mario kart racing clone. It's like every other menu choice is greyed out to me.

That's regardless of which one of the, now like 10, methods for alternate dol loading I use. Either straight from the disc, a separate .dol on the SD card, or extracting & injecting with Wiiscrubber.

Anyone have any idea wtf I'm doing wrong? I'm 3.1u, i've got the whole range of IOSs installed (38,53..etc), rev10, and have tried with both Neogamma & Loader GX. The game of course plays just fine from disc.

I've tried blocking IOS reloading amongst other settings. Back when I was originally trying this method I tried, iirc, patching and not patching the iso to 249. I just ignored the problem, but with the recent addition to alt-disc-dol-loading I decided to give it another go.

edit: also that's with brickblock'd and non brickblock'd copies - for what it's worth.

thats because you only have the wiimote. this game requires a gamecube/nunchuk/classic controller. but you would have known that if you really owned the game.

LOL! I used to play the hell out of it too. I've just always turned it on just figuring it wouldn't work. I blame the lack of the little plug your stuff in screen.

And of course I own the game. gbatemp is like shawshank. Everyone here is innocent.

Is there a way to alterante MoH2 so it will run without alt dol method?
I fixed SSX and Mortal Combat (extracting, renaming, replacing in Wii scrubber). So how to do it in Medal of Honor?

Hi,
I can't get Splinter Cell Double Agent working. I'm using alt-dol, but it freezes during loading. (Without alt.dol it freezes on licensed by Nintendo screen). Any ideas?

So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
