So first, you will need

a) Hermes' cIOS 202 (get it via ModMii's download pages)
b) WiiMC (also available in ModMii's download pages)
c) DVD's to test.
d) The HBC (get it from ModMii)
e) Make sure you have a Wii bought before mid-2008.

Here's how to do it! (When you've installed everything)

1. Put your SD card in your Wii.
2. Eject any Wii game, and put in the movie DVD (label facing right)
3. Start the Wii, and go to the HBC.
4. Launch WiiMC from there.
5. Click the DVD icon on the very top bar.
6. Profit!

Not pre-2009. The first reported cases of D2-3 drives were in Fall of 2009. You could have bought your Wii in early 2010 and still have a DVD-compatible drive. It just depends on when it was manufactured. In addition, you don't need 202 if you are going to use WiiMC. You need your HBC running on IOS58.

Pre 2009 is correct. I had an LU64 Wii in May 2009 which couldn't read DVD's!
