For the few of us, who attempt to do homework, well installing firmwares and the like on our systems and don't think about it here is the answer for...

You install 4.2 with Waninkoko Updater and you lose your homebrew channel (HBC).

When you try Comtex's bannerbomb for 4.2, it says you can't install due to having fake signed ios.

Here's what ya do.

1. Download and place the bannerbomb explot where it says you should in the private folder.

***NOTE rename ur old private folder to like privateold, otherwise the bannerbomb won't read the bannerbomb channel****

2. Download IOS downgrader (NOT CIOS downgrader). WARNING, NOT FOR ALL MODELS.

2a. DOWNLOAD Dop_ios_v4_by_marc, which allows you do redownload and install a new updated and non messed up IOS.

3. Place the boot.elf from the IOS downgrader folder into the root of your SD card. Make sure it's called boot.elf

4. Log into ur wii, go to your SD menu, then push in your card. the message to run boot.elf should come up

4a. If it doesn't move around the menu with "+" and "-" to get to the page that holds ur boot.elf file.

5. Now let IOS downgrader do it's thing.
5a. If you used DOP IOS, update the IOS36 or any other IOS you want, without signing it (bugging it, you can redo that after you install HBC etc. to be safe). Remember to install your new IOS with 249.

So basically it's INSTALL with 249, then install/download IOSWHATEVER without signing. You use the diagonal buttons to select your IOS.

6. Let The WII reset.

7. Now go back to ur SD on your computer and copy the bootmi 0.5 new version boot.elf onto the root of your SD card overwriting the previous boot.elf

8. Run bannerbomb again following steps 4-4a.

9. BAM!!! install DVDX and HBC.

10. Good Luck.

11. Remove bannerbomb from your card afterwards to afford freezing when entering your SD card under channels in the WII settings - MUZZ

This is how i overcame the issue after about 30minutes of complete anger at myself lol. Enjoy. Any questions please comment.

I couldn't use wad manager because it's run through homebrew browser. So my thought was well bootmii is just an .elf file, why i can't i find a Homebrowswer that's an .elf file and execute it via bannerbomb. Well that was a dead end, then i remember using IOS downgrader back when 1.0.2 HBC came out. So i found the boot.elf of that and BAM it's what i needed to get HBC back running again. I'm glad it helped.

For some reason now going to the SD menu inside wii settings my WII locks up. It did it before i installed HBC too, so I've got to look into that.

Doesn't 4.2 update update your boot2 to v4 (like LU64) making it brickable to use IOS Downgrader?

K, I seem to be having a problem with this.

I get the IOS downgrader, rename it to boot.dol, but when I try to boot it up (using the new bannerbomb), nothing happens. The screen just goes black, and the light on my wii lights up and stays until I pull the plug. What should I do?

You could attempt that Fenir. This is what I did, and everything got back to normal, So I'm happy. Just sharing the love.

Also if you're getting a black screen, you may want to try a different version of bannerbomb.

I tried switching out IOS downgrader for DOP-IOS, but there's still a black screen. I tried Bannerbomb, where I just got a black screen. I then tried Smash Stack, where it froze at the overflow screen. What should I try?

EDIT: And now, it can't even read disks legit or otherwise (this is right after I unplugged the overflow screen). PLZ help!!!

EDIT 2: Apparently, it sometimes reads disks (It didn't, I removed the SD, it did, I replaced the SD, it did, and then randomness). I still want to use this DOP-IOS, though. Please help.

The black screen probably means, you don't have the IOS downgrader (the boot.elf) or hackermi install boot (the boot.elf from bootmi 0.5) on the root of the SD card. The bannerbomb SD exploit lets u run almost any boot.elf from the root of ur SD card.

I hope that helps. If you're JUST GETTING THE BLACK SCREEN and you have the right ios downgrader boot.elf in the root of ur SD, I'd try one of the different versions of bannerbomb. My wii is old, so i could use the "first" one comtex suggests to use.

I think the problem is not the black screen, but I think I know why its happening. Bannerbomb fades to black to load, and then my Wii freezes, forcing me to pull it out at the plug. Smash Stack, on the other hand, instantly goes to overflow, where it freezes once it sees the valid ELF file. I just need to find a way to unfreeze it ( I think), but I don't know how. Also, I don't exactly get what you're saying for the older version of Bannerbomb. It used to work great (through the channels), bu now it just opens with no effect, and a channel with a question mark (probably the Bannerbomb itself).

K, maybe I should add a little detail.

I updated my HBC, used Waninkoko, saw my HBC was upside down, accidently deleted it, my friend decides to use the legit updater to 4.2, and now I'm trying to get back my HBC, DVDX, etc, but the IOS downgrader freezes my Wii when it recognizes the ELF. I really need help with this.
