This would make some things way easier.
Let's say:

JTube - watch YouTube (WiiMC's youtube has less features)
Java Games on Wii - play good old games like snake and stuff
Opera - we would have a browser that opens and does not look half bad.
Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.

Quote from another thread:

RetroArch Wii has the core SquirrelJME, which is a good Java Micro Edition (J2ME) emulator and it can run .jar files on Wii, because it's a port of the SquirrelJME Java ME 8 Virtual Machine emulator to LibRetro.

No no, i meant does the Retroarch java core have internet connectivity (for eg. opera)
On Wii, sadly it doesnt have internet connection support (ex. Opera Mini cant be run here because it needs internet connection, which RetroArch Wii and its cores dont support it).

Sure they could.

Someone would just need to write or port a JVM (Java Virtual Machine) to the Wii and while they're at it, add support for Java ME.

Easiest method would be to just port PSPKVM to the Wii and pray it has enough processing power.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/pspkvm/

The Wii easily has enough power for this if the PSP does. I would also be interested in such a project since Opera Mini to this day is still usable and it would be a great thing to have a functional browser on the Wii again.

Has anyone actually run .jar files on Wii though? I haven't seen any videos or photos of people playing old mobile games on it.

Why do you want to play a Java game that was designed for a smaller screen in mind? And most of the games released on that platform are terrible because of so many limitations.

You might as well stick to playing Flash games.
Because of nostalgia and memories with those Java games, i guess.

Same reason people want to play GB/GBC/GBA games on the big screen.
Those games are also designed with a small screen in mind and most of those games on those platforms are terrible because of so many limitations.

Might as well stick to playing normal console games.

Right?
