If you are going to trigger RCM, just buy joycon rails off eBay like I did and bridge those. They slide into place properly and don't run the risk of damaging your switch rail pins.

I can't find joycon rails, but that sounds like the best idea I've seen yet, do you mind to explain it a bit better or show a picture of it?

Please note you don't need the wire, you can just bridge pin 1 and 10 on the inside of the joycon rail. I just used the wire because I like grounding to the fan shroud. You can either solder or bridge with a paperclip ect.

Thank you, yeah bridging inside the rail is what i thought. Maybe I can even use my spare Joy Con Shell to build an empty Joy Con just for RCM which can easily slide in and out. But not before I have more info on how often RCM is necessary etc.

With all these 3D printed JIGs I don’t know why people just don’t buy them. I grabbed 2x for £2. This would surely save the possibilities of broken rails

You still have to make the pins yourself which aren't meant to be shoved in the rails of the switch, which is the problem here. Hence why I use joycon rail with it's native pins

You don't need an empty shell. The release mechanism is still in place

So after playing around with RCM for a while and using my paperclip jig a few times, I've snapped pin 10 completely off. Switch still works fine, it just can't detect joycons being plugged in, but will still charge them.
Don't be a dipshit like me, be careful. And if you do break something, replacement rails are about $5 on aliexpress.

give this a try if you find yourself with an extra joycon or get an joycon rail and mod it.

I'll probably look into this, if I can find out where to buy a soldering irom from for DIYing, and whether RCM is required in the future.

Get a glass, fill it with a bit of water, and dip the bottom right edge of your Switch into it, that will for sure short out the pins.

Even better, for perfect connections, it is recommended to use Official Nintendo Water, as shown below, but be warned its rare and getting costly to find!

I soldered, but the great thing is, you don't even need a soldering iron, just attach a wire to the two points with your hand for now. Same method as RCM with paperclip, but your pins don't get damaged in the process.

I take it you missed my post lol
