Gaming Questions about playing Pokemon Emerald without RTC?

Hey, I have an Acekard 2.1 and a EZ flash 3in1.
So since its impossible (from what ive found) to emulate an RTC function for pokemon emerald, ive decided to just play it without the RTC.
Im playing it to get pokemon that arent available in platinum to transfer them to platinum!... i dont know if that is possible, but it would be nice if someone could tell me if it is!

I read on wikipedia that emerald doesnt have night and day, so what is the RTC for?
Does the daycare work without RTC?

So i guess my questions are...
1. Is pokemon emerald playable without the RTC?
2. Can you still get all the pokemon without the RTC?
3. What are the downsides of not having an RTC?
4. Does the daycare work without RTC?
5. Is it possible to transfer your pokemon from emerald to platinum with roms instead of the retail games.

Daycare uses number of steps taken, not time.

Time is used for berries, and possibly more I can't think of right now.

There is night and day in the game, but its not graphically visible like in G/S or or the 4th gen games.

1. Is pokemon emerald playable without the RTC?
Yes.

2. Can you still get all the pokemon without the RTC?
Pokemon obtained at certain times in the day cannot be obtained, same thing kinda applies to swarm pokemon but they are not that important. The Majority of important pokemon can be obtained though and ones that evolve on certain times or something can be evolved in Platinum.

3. What are the downsides of not having an RTC?
The only downside though is that time based events (such as growing berries) will stop working.

Daycare works based on steps, so there is no worries there.

I believe there was a way to patch roms so that you could transfer between roms as if they were the real deal, don't remember all the specifics but I know its possible.

There were patches for Ruby and Sapphire.... just not for Emerald....
