Thanks for the script and detailed instructions. Everything went OK on my second try.
Now I can play HULK (whee?). tested.

If I could get Soft Reset working, this would be much better.

I used option 4. I hoped this would dual boot like DSTT or SCDS1's triple-boot.
YSMenu still cannot set the screen brightness, I can boot to R4, set the brightness, then run YSMenu.nds, but then I cannot get back to the R4 menu.
I have tried renaming a copy of _DS_MENU.DAT to R4MENU.NDS, but that does not seem to work.

With DSTT and SCDS1 I can cycle between all the menus, but I can only do one change on R4. Any ideas?

u can change the screen brightness by touching the top left of the screen. atleast mine does.

I've followed the instructions you've posted here.

Downloaded YSMenu0805222222.zip and put in same directory as r4ysauto.

Ran the batch, selected following options:

Which language should R4YSauto be in? (EN)

Which flashcard do you use? (R4)

-use the skin y/n option- (No)

then

That's strange... I have tested it, and that part should be translated.

I'll just translate it for you then.

There are a few different ways to install YSMenu:
1. As replacement for the R4 software
2. Automatically starting after the R4 software loads
3. Manually starting using the middle button
4. Manually starting using the file browser (left button)

Please input your choice:
I hope it's a bit more understandable like that

I am currently working on a new version of R4YSauto, and I noticed that I had the same problem. I will fix it in the next version.

Any advice? Happens whenever I try to load anything.
To be honest, I don't have a clue...

Wait, what, it doesn't work? Well I did grab it the other day, but hadn't had a chance to give it a try.

Oh well, luckily we can all head on over to Beve's (now also 'disguising' itself as Hexane26) thread again to grab one of his SUPERDUPER BEEZNUTZ WHIZBANG CUSTOM-MADE FIRMWARES!

It works for 95% of the people who use it

can somebody point me towards YSMenu_ttextract080903.zip

I cant find it on Yasu's site anymore. thanks.
It isn't there anymore. I suspect it's in the latest update of YSMenu that Yasu just released. I will test it and probably release a new version of R4YSauto (and the others) today.

So uhm is there a way to get the correct colors for the themes? cause there isn't something like theme.ini and is there a softreset function ?
You can correct it in YSMenu.ini which is in the YSMenu directory. I haven't found out how it works exactly though.

I can't find the required YSMenu file on his site. All I can find is YSMenu0804200115.zip

EDIT: Call me uneducated, but what's the real point of this YSMenu? Can it do a great deal more than the official R4 kernel does?

Yes, the R4 has basically reached the end of the line when it comes to official firmware updates so because of this, many games and newer comes comign out do not work on the R4. With YSMenu, it uses the loader from another flashcard which is regulary updated and has better game compatibility so you have these benefits on the R4. Not only that, but the YSMenu has more features than the stock R4 firmware, including support for Gameboy Advance games (With the proper Slot 2 card), other games if you have the emulators on the flashcard (So you can start the game right up from the main menu without manually loading the emulator than the game), A way to boot back to the DS main options menu without taking the flashcard out, way better cheat support and the list goes on.

Also as of posting this, heres a link to the latest version of YSMenu

Actually, that link really didn't work either. It took me to the front page which has no mention of NDS stuff. Then when I copy pasted the link in, it took me to the DS page, but the only mention of YSMenu was the download link for the version I'd mentioned earlier. This guy is awfully protective of his program, isn't he?

Yes he is.

For people who can't find the link: go to http://home.usay.jp/pc/etc/nds/ and click this link:

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
