I think it really depends on whether or not somebody will be able to make drivers for it. With proper drivers it could basically become a super tiny laptop.I think it's kind of impractical to use Linux on the 3DS for anything serious when you could just, you know, make a native homebrew program. but who knows?
This is exactly what I would like this project to become. I'd even dream of the bottom screen being usable as both a touchpad and a virtual keyboard (touch based, not key based). But maybe I dream too muchI think it really depends on whether or not somebody will be able to make drivers for it. With proper drivers it could basically become a super tiny laptop.
It only uses one core at the moment.Does this use all 4 cores on the n3DS?
I hope that gets changed soon, do the other cores just spin or something? It only uses one core at the moment.

To be honest I'm not sure, I guess they are sleeping waiting for an Inter-processor interrupt or something like that to wake up, since I'm using Brahma2 and it triggers a reboot.I hope that gets changed soon, do the other cores just spin or something?
Lets see if we can fix that I suppose. To be honest I'm not sure, I guess they are sleeping waiting for an Inter-processor interrupt or something like that to wake up, since I'm using Brahma2 and it triggers a reboot.
Not that close yet.Is it time? Can we finally install Gentoo on our 3DS? This is amazing.
What a time to be alive.
A server for what? I can't imagine running anything powerful on a underpowered ARM device that plays pokemon.I want to make a server out of my 3DS. That should work, right?
For science my friend, for scienceA server for what? I can't imagine running anything powerful on a underpowered ARM device that plays pokemon.
New 3DS looks like it's about the same as a raspberry pi, give or take. so you could probably make a decent server on it.A server for what? I can't imagine running anything powerful on a underpowered ARM device that plays pokemon.
I'd run SpillPass Pi on it.New 3DS looks like it's about the same as a raspberry pi, give or take. so you could probably make a decent server on it.
Ehh, what? ARM9 access is already gained (on <9.2 ) and a downgrade method is going to be available soon... Literally ALL consoles are exploitable rn. @xerpi just needs to write some sort of ARM9 payload/kernel or something that lets us have NAND, WiFi, etc. access.I really want someone to gain arm9 access to see projects like this flourish.
I didn't know that. What do people mean when they say that emulators could run better if they had kernel access?Ehh, what? it would allow for dynamic recompilation, which is like translating the game's code to something native for the OS.I didn't know that. What do people mean when they say that emulators could run better if they had kernel access?
