Released in 2008, the NDS game follows the storyline from the first half of the hit anime series Soul Eater, and is now available in English!

The translation is fully playable and includes an accompanying walkthrough as well as cheats (for those who are so inclined.)

Take control of Maka, Black☆Star and Kid, and practice your weapon-wielding skills as you train to become part of Lord Death’s army, fighting to preserve world peace against the threat of the Kishin.

Usage:
Before you can play the translation, you’ll need to patch the game on your computer using a legal copy of the ROM.

-Download xdelta UI from http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/598/
-Extract the .rar with WinRAR or 7-Zip.
-Run ‘xdeltaUI’(not the file simply named ‘xdelta’)
-For ‘patch’, choose the ‘MedusaPatch.xdelta’ file.
-‘Source’ should be your copy of the ROM, as an ‘.nds’ filetype.
-Finally, set your output destination.
-IMPORTANT Give the output file any name you’d like, but be sure to add ‘.nds’ to the end, or it will not work e.g. ‘MedusaPatched.nds’
-Hit patch, and you’re good to go!

Play this file on an emulator such as DeSmuME, or use a flashcart to play it on any member of the NDS family.

Additional Notes:
If playing this game on an emulator, you may notice an issue where certain images are obstructed by a solid pink color. This is an emulator bug which happens even with the unpatched game, but does not happen on real hardware. We recommend updating to the latest build of DeSmuME, which can be found here.

I'm looking into setting up the tools to translate the Soul Eater NDS game, but I'm quite stuck on an issue with the text rendering.

The game supports VWF and it works beautifully, but the text rendering seems to be limited to 15 characters per line, which makes sense for japanese (since that's all the characters you can fit at the font max length), but kinda ruins the English text.

If anyone wants to try I've edited a script file with some test text that shows the issue: ev0051.cnut
Just replace it into Rom/event/script and repack the rom. This is the first line in the game, so just start it, click through the opening and click the "デス・シティー" button in the top left of the bottom screen:

The screen on the right should show "12345678901234567890" for every line but it stops after the 15th character. I've tried with other characters with different sizes and it always stops after the 15th, although the game still waits a bit like if it was still writing the text.

Currently I'm using a workaround with a custom font like what I did here but it's a shame given this game supports VWF already.

I suppose there might be some hard limitation somewhere in the text rendering functions, but I wasn't really able to find anything so would really appreciate any help.

Solved, there was indeed an hard limit of 15 characters. Many thanks to @StorMyu for figuring it out!

Thanks for your interest!

As the image editor for this project, I must apologise for the delays. With Japanese taking up much less space than the original, I've had to manually edit nearly every image with text in the game and it's been taking me quite some time. However, thanks to Illidan's technical expertise and @EnvyPlays wonderful work on the translation, I can assure you that it'll be well worth the wait :lol:

I can't give any estimates of when it might be ready, but hope it won't be too long now... Here's a little preview in the meantime!
