Ted Williams - The homeless man with "a golden voice"

For those who haven't yet seen/heard/read of this story a homeless man by the name of Ted Williams, he gained sudden fame as a result of his voice being recorded and put up on youtube.

To summarise this I'll quote a comment seen on youtube and link you to a vid if you want the full story:

In less than 72 hours, he's ultra famous. In less than than a week, he's got a home, job offers from every direction, and reunited w/ his mother he hasn't seen in 20 years. You done good Internet, you done good.

If this is true, it really is a big WIN for the internet.
But it all went so fast, I mean, a house?! Commercials after 40 hours?!
Maybe it's fake, I sure don't hope so though.
