So i can run from USB and access it over the network with flash drives.

has anyone used an HDD and lived to share details?

the thing i notice is that it can be a bitch and a half for geexbox to recognise the usb drive, I find it best that if it wont see it to turn the wii off completely and then turn it on, wait a few secs, and by the time i load through hbc and geex the thing appears. My suspicions are that the more files i have on the flash drive the longer it takes to be seen, so if I go with a hard drive, will I spend a week waiting for the drive to be seen by geexbox? also ftpii transfers to usb are insanely slow, takes over an hour for a 25min videp clip. about 260mb.

Let me know if you have any success stories or advice you'd like to share with us

I have a 500gb hd, nearly full. I timed how long it took to load...54 seconds. So that's not bad at all.

I'm a little out of the loop here. How are you using an hdd on your wii? Do you put movies on it and load it through mplayer?

has anyone tampered with the netstream.file? supposedly this thing can use wifi but word on the street is only the ethernet is supported. Itwould be really awesome to watch video streams and shoutcasts over wifi on the wii, i wanted to watch the debate from cnn but i couldnt figure out the specifics of it all

MPlayer supports shoutcasts and streaming audio. However the streaming video needs a lot of work and is currently unwatchable.
