1. I am on a Mac, does that make a difference?

There's several ways, actually.

If you're not adamant about streaming audio, you can simply hook up an MP3 player to the Wii and play the files with one of the media players available here: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/List_of_homebrew_a...s#Media_players

Most people will reccomend Mplayer CE (Christmas Edition).
Or, if you don't want to be too picky about the music, use WiiRadio.

Mplayer-CE. It supports Samba shares, and it's quite good. I believe .61 is the latest release... just check at Wiibrew.

mplayer ce! its great! as said before. i stream videos and stuff to my wii via smb share. mplayer ce also supports usb harddrives(gotta be fat32) to read from. http://code.google.com/p/mplayer-ce/

You can also use "ORB" which streams music and video from your PC to the Wii. www.orb.com
