Hi! I just bought a Wii U for the first time (mostly for collecting, but I'd also like to run Virtual Console N64 games on there), and it appears the gamepad isn't turning on. The console itself works perfectly, as I've been able to connect a Wiimote to it and use it that way. I've tried to Google around for my specific issue, but haven't found anything.

Despite being plugged in for over a half hour, it refuses to turn on, whether plugged or unplugged. The orange LED stays on even after unplugging it. There is absolutely no response from the gamepad itself.

Do I just have to wait longer, or is there something wrong with my gamepad and do I have to buy a new one? Thank you for any response!

Update: opening up the gamepad, taking out the battery and re-inserting it made it work again. Hurrah!

Kind of useless now considering my cat probably has a wifi chip inside it

I guess it's useful if your landlord doesn't let you rewire the apartment or change the switches.

Smart plugs and bulbs are already around the same price

Having a remote servo that can push/pull something for you is still useful.

    It could operate a latch.

On the other hand there are those chandeliers with like 50 lightbulbs and that would be a bit expensive to replace with smart bulbs.

Anbernic's SP clone will be $60 and I think I'll buy it. Looks decent enough and it will stop me from drooling over every single new handheld that comes out.
