Full collection of DS and 3DS systems

In response to the previous blog, I thought it would be interesting to show my full collection of working DS and 3DS systems, and any history or special things associated with them. Only working systems, not the things from my parts bin.

Nothing special about this one, it's in okay condition and everything in it works fine.

The screens have some issues on this one and the condition is not as good as the previous one, but it still works and is usable.

This one is in much worse condition, the hinge is broken which is a very common issue with old DS consoles, the top screen has some dead pixels, and it may have had some other issues. This is just another (barely) working unit that I could put together from the parts I had.

The plastics are not in very good condition, but the hinge isn't broken, and everything works fine except for one stuck pixel on the top screen. I was able to complete this one with the original stylus and wrist strap, which is nice. I really like this color.

I modified this one into a 1DS or Gameboy Macro. The hinge was broken, and something in the top part was also causing the DS to never turn on. The screen looks weird because there is a plastic screen protector on it, I decided to keep it on because the actual touch screen under it was in perfect condition. I also soldered one speaker at the bottom and made some ugly holes for it so you can hear anything even without the top screen part.

The shoulder buttons are broken, and it's not in great condition. The original touch panel was extremely scratched up, I replaced it with another one from a white parts DSi. It can still work for games that don't heavily use the shoulder buttons, but ideally I should get a new replacement part for them.

This one is in good condition and everything works flawlessly in it. It had some purchased games in the DSi shop that I could redownload, most of them were things most people wouldn't care about, but one of them was this WarioWare Paper Plane minigame from Nintendo. I also use it as my alarm clock: https://gbatemp.net/threads/what-alarm-clock-do-you-have.584685/page-2#post-9402520

Unfortunately it has a cracked top screen, but other than that it is in pretty good condition and it also had a lot of DSi shop games.

The first DS/3DS system I got almost 4 years ago, and still the one I use daily. I had to replace the shoulder buttons just a few months after I bought it, and after few years I also had to replace the battery (I just took one from a 2DS and put the used one in another 2DS that didn't really need a battery that lasts for hours). It's possible that it is now 10 years old, but it is still working just fine for my daily and sometimes heavy usage.

Very good condition. I think the story of this one is that the previous owner tried to install custom firmware, messed something up, opened up the system to attempt a hardmod, but then gave up. I got it with a completely messed up operating system and boot9strap already installed, the included SD card also had some custom firmware files on it. It also had a missing locking piece for the touch panel, the previous owner taped it down with electrical tape but that was not a working fix. I was able to install a new locking piece on that connector, and after days of sitting on this forum and trying many complicated methods for fixing the operating system, we were able to get this system back to a perfectly working state. Big thanks to @TurdPooCharger and @Quantumcat. This is also one of the newer hardware revisions that doesn't have a separate wireless card, and the eshop allowed me to redownload a copy of Mario Kart 7 so I'm guessing this 2DS came from a mario kart bundle.

The 2DS from my previous blog entry. The top screen is scratched up, but otherwise it's in pretty good condition. The rear cameras are broken, but I could easily replace that part if needed. https://gbatemp.net/entry/rescuing-another-old-2ds.18522/

The only "new" 3DS or 2DS in my collection. It's in good condition, I bought it as working at a used game store a while ago, there were never any issues with it. I could be using this as my daily-use 3DS, but there are some things I prefer about the old 3DS, and I never bothered trying to do any system transfer that would correctly transfer over all homebrew software and the related settings. I also put a smashcustommusic sticker on this one, I normally don't like putting any stickers on these things but it looks nice here and the new3DS has user-replaceable cover plates.

Older hardware revision with separate wireless card. It is a lot older than the previously shown 2DSes and it is also very used. Someone really liked to play a lot of games on this 2DS all those years ago, so I wouldn't look at the condition of it as an entirely negative thing. It also has the old used battery from my old3DS so it has to be plugged in if you want to use it for more than maybe 40 minutes. It's not the nicest thing to use, but it can still do the job.

Thanks for reading. I was originally going to include more images, but there is a limit so I had to remove some of them.
