Mandatory Masks – And Other Rules For /SOME/ People

Wear a mask everywhere you go! Millions of discussions about this. Like so many of the things directly related to the one-and-only world topic, it split the people in two (or even more) fractions. I will not even try talking about sense of the masks (and I will not talk about "makes sense or not" of any measurements concerning trying to fight the plague).

Fact is: All the rules are for some people only! If I would dare to not wear a mask (or wear it wrong not covering the nose), I would face the consequences instantly. I would get thrown out of the bus/shop/whatever and see the police sooner than I can say: "Hello." I would have to pay a fine. I would be threatened to experience further inconvenience if I dare to even think of doing this again.

Other people… they casually walk past the busdriver and pull down the mask partially or fully a meter away. They start eating and drinking in the bus (forbidden even B.C.) They pull down their masks in supermarkets. They smoke with their masks pulled down to their sweaty necks at the entrance of something (the smoke gets blown into the building by the wind) in a no-smoking area and throw their cigarette stubs on the floor (next to a trashcan).
And if I dare to tell them to follow the rules, these are some possibilities what happens:
  • ":rofl2:"
  • "Go to a mental hospital!"
  • "Do you feel better now?"
  • "Hey, don't talk to me!"
  • "You need a beating?"
Busdrivers… They don't care. Ask the personnel in the supermarket to enforce the rules? Hardly… most of the time it is the staff running around without wearing the mask correctly.

Guess I have to accept the reality. Guess there is nothing that can be done. I'm always the ox in "Quod licet Iovi, non licet bovi."
All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.

I wish that people would just war their fucking masks. I’ve recently plastered a complete wall and had to remove the old stucco, thus had to wear a gas mask. I worked hours with that thing on and had to mix 100s of kilos of stucco by hand wearing that mask and I had literally 0 problems breathing. And people wanna tell me that those small fabric masks won’t let them breathe properly… -.-

I have my doubts about the effects of thin masks concerning the plague (various reasons, off-topic and not the point here). But I do wear FFP2 masks and have zero problems with it as well.

What bothers me is that some people get away with ignoring rules while others don't – that is in no way limited to the rules about COVID. Take the example of no-smoking-rule. Smokers don't see their behavior as a problem and some of them threatened me to use physical violence if I insisted on them to stop blowing carcinogenic substances into my direction.
The mandatory masks rule is frequently ignored by smokers as well. "I'm smoking right now – can't wear a mask while smoking. Go away if that is a problem for you."

Speed limits? Traffic lights? Traffic rules? Only for certain people.

Edit:
Congratulations for that hard work! Plastering walls is really laborious! I've my experiences with mixing 100s of kilos concrete/plaster as well.

I hate wearing masks, but I do it. I have acute asthma, and struggle to breath without a mask on... So having a mask on makes this twice as difficult for me... But Guess what? I still wear the mask and do my part to help end this plague that China started. (When can we sue the shit out of China for releasing this bullshit?)

    @Xdqwerty, Yeah, I'd recommend having another OS just in-case you want to play games.

    At least Linux doesn't contain spyware than what Windows has.

    @SylverReZ, cuz of lag?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Xdqwerty, No. Whenever you use the internet on Windows, Microsoft collects personal data and installs bloatware that isn't necessarily needed, such as Edge.

    @SylverReZ,
    I recall @impeeza mentioned some trick about not having bloatware when installing windows where you set up your country to "world" or smh like that

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    Yes, you can debloat the operating system, but in some cases for me it just reinstalls them.

  • impeeza @ impeeza:
    @Xdqwerty yes, when you are installing Windows on the first steps you are asked for your current location, you MUST to select «international» so no bloatware is installed, because the bloatware is location based. if this night I have some time I will setup a VM and take screenshots.
