I just got this today!

It's a Sony Digital Audio Tape recorder, I got it for for free from a friend who had it sitting unused for 20 years together with that tape inside of it.
At first when I plugged it in after 20 years, it had some issues and wouldn't play at all, but after taking the cover off and messing with it for a bit it's working almost perfectly now!
It can record digital audio at up to 48kHz in standard quality so it's still not useless at least to me, I'll definitely find some use for it when I can get more tape cartridges for it. I heard that some of the newer DDS data cartridges are also compatible with these old DAT audio recorders, I will have to do some more research about it.
Thanks for reading!
