Yeah. But it might not be out for a while, big as in i mean big. And actually - that is a good idea. Except I can't work on that now, sorry. But yes, I can have it so it changes it for the hosted network as well.

Alright, good to hear that. I'm in no hurry, just glad you can sort this out :).

Hey Chaldron. I saw in the other thread that you addressed an atheros problem but my atheros adapter still seems to not be working with it. I setup everything the way you said to but whether I use your program or just macshift, the virtual wifi miniport disappears from "Network Connections" and get a ! by it in device manager. My 3ds connects just fine before altering the mac so I guess it must be related to that... I attached a video of what's happening if it helps any.

I don't think that's an issue with my cycler if it happens even if you change the MAC manually. Do you change the mac then start the hosted network? Or just change it? Try the XP version, and I'll take a look at your video.

Yes, and after changing the mac, it gives me an error when trying to start the hosted network. The error shows up in the video too. I'll try the XP version.

Share your Local Area Connection with "Wi-Fi" and see if it works.

Still doesn't work with the XP version. Maybe I'll just dig around in my spare computer components and see if I have an non-atheros adapter...

So question, since Nintendo Zone won't run on an encrypted network, how can I set this up without a password? o.O

Windows doesn't support this, sadly :(

That's weird. I'll check the script and see what is wrong...

EDIT: It works for me. Run "Debug.exe" and press yes when asked for admin privileges. Debug program is for troubleshooting. If you're just trying to use MAC Cycle, download the normal version.

Odd.. well I suppose I can't have my cake and eat it too. Not much really interesting on NZ anyways.

One other question, perhaps I'm misunderstanding the nature of the Streetpass Relay functionality, but I had a friend over earlier and we tested by having the station up and running, his 3DS on, then he turned it off and I turned mine on, but I didn't pick him up. I DID however pick up some random person from the US. :P

Does it not actually work that way, or am I doing something wrong?

Chaldron, What are you using to create a virtual hotspot with a dongle/built in WIFI on WinXp? Cycling Macs is not a problem, but XP doesnt have libraries 7 and 8 have for wifi hotspot sharing...

His 3DS may not have connected in time, packet loss, slow internet, etc. Many things could have gone wrong. You're not doing anything wrong. Try again in the next 8 hours. Maybe leave his 3DS on longer?

Also, I'm not sure if this is necessary, but tell your friend to go to the Mii Plaza and check for updates.

Useful script but it would be more useful if it simply used a single MAC address that way there would be more people using the same one.

This is pretty nifty. I've gotten 3 hits in half an hour, much more than all I've gotten in my 3ds' lifetime. I gotta say that the tutorial was easy to follow and went through perfectly. Thanks a lot!

so after running macshift manually, you also have to start the hosted network again? Then it should work, because my script starts the network again too. Are you taking any other steps? I noticed the "etc.". I'd be happy to compile you a separate version which works for you.

It must not have liked my PC setup.
I did exactly the same steps on my laptop and it seems to be working.

Cheers for the great info,

I'm trying the Windows setup. I made sure my Wi-Fi card isn't communicating with anything, and that I was hooked up via ethernet. I start the hosted network, and the 3DS finds it. I enter the passkey in the settings, but when it tests, it can't seem to connect to the internet. And I'm using an Atheros adapter as well. I enabled sharing on the ethernet to make sure the hosted network got an internet connection, but I still can't seem to get it going.

    I just recently picked up a n64 from a garage sell, and looking to mod it and add a HDMI port to it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3548173115...044&customid=4f3038da73b61afddf7e5e90f4153856

    I'd like to find a power strip and HDMI selector built in 1 unit, so I can select which game system I want, and will switch to that hdmi, and power on that plug/power supply only, so don't have all game systems powered all the time, but can't find anything like. May just have to make something myself.

    Maybe start a kick starter page and sell them, yea right. Big N would prob C&D me, not anything Big N related, but just because that's what they do nowdays. Then come out with they own in a year or so.

    @SylverReZ, windows 10 and some linux distro like linux mint

    @SylverReZ, cuz of lag?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Xdqwerty, No. Whenever you use the internet on Windows, Microsoft collects personal data and installs bloatware that isn't necessarily needed, such as Edge.

    @SylverReZ,
    I recall @impeeza mentioned some trick about not having bloatware when installing windows where you set up your country to "world" or smh like that

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    Yes, you can debloat the operating system, but in some cases for me it just reinstalls them.

    I also recall my brother downloded a "non bloated" version of windows 11 on his pc

  • impeeza @ impeeza:
    @Xdqwerty yes, when you are installing Windows on the first steps you are asked for your current location, you MUST to select «international» so no bloatware is installed, because the bloatware is location based. if this night I have some time I will setup a VM and take screenshots.
