As someone who already had to lift one thread because community drama prevented cheats from becoming available, I hope this is solved to the satisfaction of end users, who are the ones who actually use the cheats.

IANAL but my little understanding is that, even if the cheats themselves were not "programs" (my opinion is that they are, because they are sets of direct instructions, in a purpose-specific language, following an algorithmic procedure) it should still be possible for the authors to release the cheats as a sort of work of art (instead of merely as raw code), which would allow them to be offered via a CC-BY-NC-SA license. Kinda like how the Gamefaqs guides back in the day were works of art with ASCII covers, diagrams, etc.

Thus any site not providing attribution (BY), using the cheats commercially (NC) or altering their distribution (SA) would be in breach of the terms of the license and thus open to legal action.

So no one wanna really discuss a solution rather than trying to bring down a hammer?
Honestly, it probably wouldn't matter. It's like Hydra, cut one head off and 3 more come into play. I like the idea if the owner puts up a report button or if they have a redo credits button. Maybe even a submission to show that another person created it, then they could lock the created by box. Heck I haven't made anything new and just kind of been sitting on the sidelines right now.

You found the problem...

Who says moderation/approval, says authority. This therefore implies that www.cheatslips.com is recognized as an authority. In case of conflict, who has the last word ?

Currently, there is only controls over the format of the code that is submitted.
What about adding a drop down list with some of the more current cheat makers in it? I mean it's not a great suggestion but it's something.

It's puzzling why they don't credit any of the cheat creators, why steal the cheats then claim them as their own? Do they profit from them? I really appreciate all the hard work these cheat creators put in for people like me to make playing games that more enjoyable and less stressful, having cheats on games also allow my autistic child who has learning difficulties play them and have fun and not get upset when he dies.

I get it that ppl want to be credited for their findings, but preventing text theft is kinda a grey box within itself.
If the idiots don't credit then just call them out and ridicule them in public with a possible ban.

Where I'm lost at is now that there in this group, the cheats have almost come to a stop. like lasted master on 10/26 had one new cheat. and no one see a problem with that ? but then you say Join hey you can join too and weeks go by and there nothing said you just hanging in limbo. but then you make people go to the other places and spend money because you left them hanging in the wind. that is just as bad as charging.

I think we need some support from GBA Temp regarding cheat theft.

CheatSlips enters the forums, takes the cheats and changes the author's name.

The result is that there are already cheat creators who are getting discouraged because cheating is not trivial, it takes work, and they are not recognized because CheatSlips does not seem to have policies that prohibit posting cheats without proper credit.

They do not have a reporting or comment system where complaints can be made.

It may seem like a trifle, but GBA Temp has one of the most exclusive cheat-making communities on the internet, and it's being stolen.

Therefore, it is important that the administration of GBA Temp promotes some kind of recognition to the people who bring new cheats every day, and in some way make CheatSlips understand that it must provide a mechanism so that people stop stealing the cheats of this community.

smokey flavor that reminds me of beef jerkey on top of a really rich kind of bbq sauce. Heat level that is a nice zing, not overwhelming, but it tingles all the way down your throat
