Any risks involved, what with the CFW? And does the PS3 need to be a specific firmware to allow the pairing?

No risk that I know of, though the rumble function does not work. My PS3 is on 3.55 rebug and it worked fine (sorry, don't know about 3.41 or lower). Also, you can use a Windows computer with the Motionjoy drivers instead of a PS3 to connect, though Motionjoy requires an active internet connection to work (unless you use the unsupported local mode).

On the series s/x you can use a external HD but any next gen games must be on your internal ssd, or you can buy a ssd expansion card, but pricey. Any xbone, 360, or og Xbox games can be played from external tho.
