So, we know that dolphin can install .wad . It installs it to the emulated nand, which is good. If there's a way to extract the dolphin nand, then you could put that nand in a real console, and play the game, on real hardware, for free? If its possible get a dolphin NAND backup, then we could use this to install .wads instead of using a wad manager. This could be good if you wanna play a game, but keep your wii virgin. However, there's no way to get a nand backup out of dolphin afaik. Maybe someone could find a way? (dont reply, thread done)

I’m more confused about how you expect to get the wad onto a stock Wii, since you’d still need to bypass the Wii’s security to get it on there.

What practicality is there to keeping a Wii 'virgin'? It's not like there's online to get banned from, and it's not like they're going to update it to block piracy or something.

A. That's impossible without modding
B. Why do you need your Wii to be "virgin"?
C. Just use WAD Manager or Wii Mod Lite, and uninstall Homebrew Channel afterwards and remove the SD card if you care that much

What the hell is this??? Are you trolling or just high?

Just so i got this...... Get a free game by taking the nand out of a dolphin emulator and then proceed to somehow cram it into a "virgin" wii..... You have a very different understanding of the word "virgin" and I just don't know where to start with this lol!

Maybe it could be done, I really can't be arsed even thinking about this process compared to what others have told you above. Just... Madness!!!

DONT REPLY IF THIS IS VERY DUMB, I DO NOT WANT TO WASTE ANYONE'S TIME OR EFFORT.

honestly, i feel like what im saying is VERY dumb, and if it is, please dont reply i dont want to waste people's time. There's a modmii thing called " casper2bootmii " which launches bootmii on an unmodded wii. You can restore nand with it, which is what im wondering. If you take a nand out of dolphin with a .wad installed, then use this thing to restore dolphin nand, it could (in theory) be done. It would be VERY unreliable, sure, but in theory it might be possible.

What people are asking here isn't "Is it possible on a technical level" but rather "why" - why does it matter so much that the Wii remain unmodded?

Google isn't very helpful anymore, you get recommended loads of crap that doesn't solve the thing that you're looking for.

@K3Nv2, afaik yeah but I also don't think that it runs on home grade routers like openwrt/dd-wrt does. OPNsense runs on full-on x86 PC hardware
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Sadly openwrt seems to be dying for support unless it's just. Anew name

Like made by the same devs different architecture

idk, I mean it had a new release back in March https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/releases
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
Not sure how recent hardware it supports though
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I mean for 1st party routers iirc linksys use to support it

I've turned more features on in OPNsense lately and it's getting kind of high on RAM usage, I see. Probably bump that up to 4GB soon

I wanna make a 8core router with support for 20gbps doesn't even sound that silly lol

eventually this desktop is going to act as a server too, just for the hell of it. Because this PC is WAY fucking overkill for how little I use it.
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
And once I do that, my desktop OS that I interact with is just going to be a virtual machine and use GPU passthrough to connect everything
