This is a very direct question. So I want to use some USB storage on the Wii that I just fixed. I see people all the time say some USB devices might not work. For now I was looking at mid sized thumb drives. I know many SSD drives work well. For mid sized things BestBuy had a few 512GB thumb drives on sale and I see many discussions on weather or not those work well. Any help on known working brands and stuff would be good. Just need space to start storing my disk rips and running them off USB. And in case anybody needs to ask yes the Wii is modded. I just needed some help with USB devices before I set up a few USB based apps. Nintendont has been working fine using the SD Card. But that is off topic. Just seeing what brands and sizes worked for others that modded the Wii. Mine is using solf mods so no added chips simply running things off the SD card. The Wii is the white one with GameCube ports so it was made sometime in 06 or 07. If that helps you help me.

As people add to this I will look over all ideas. So thank you to anybody that posts. I want a clear answer on a few thumb drives that work. All help is good but thumb drives are the most mixed when it comes to working or not.

It's a mixed bag. That is the problem. Many people use them fine so it really is mixed on what will or will not break. Tons of people use them without problems. Just as many people use an SSD of some type. This is what sparked the question in the first place. Tons of people say use thumb drives tons of people say go big for an SSD. But thanks for the help. All info is good here.
