Hello All,
I acquired a non working Wii U off of eBay where it boots and gets stuck on the Wii U Logo. I went in and successfully backed up the MLC with a modified sdcard adapter and flashed it to an SD card. The MLC replacement was successful, and it can boot to the same state. I then attempted UDPIH, but I didnt have any luck, the LED never changed colors and nothing different happened on screen. Navigating blindly also did not seem to be working so I installed de_fuse and backed up my OTP.bin, and SLC.RAW.

At this point I realized that I didn't care about the data on the console at all (even if I did, it appears that without the recovery menu working, im not getting far in saving that anyways so eh) and I had a 64gb sd card not being used. So I popped that in and attempted to format it fresh (https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-upgrading-rebuilding-wii-u-internal-memory-mlc.636309/), I went in and Erased the MLC and deleted scfm.img.

However at this point, when I launch Patch (sd) and boot IOS (slc), the install seemingly never starts and the log in the putty terminal indicates that the issue is that the firmware is not on 5.5.x.

I saw that the guide mentioned this potentially being a problem, so I downloaded the SLC titles and put them in the wafel_install folder along with the MLC titles. However, that does not seem to get me further in the process. The guide doesn't mention installing the SLC titles separately and I don't want to screw something up by trying the other boot options since I don't know what they do.

Is there a separate process for installing the SLC titles or is that supposed to work with the MLC installer? I'm sure that I'm missing something or doing something wrong.

Many thanks in advance :)

Nevermind, I found that this was answered in https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-...ii-u-internal-memory-mlc.636309/post-10222296.

Sorry.

The firmware being pre 5.5 would explain why UDPIH didn't work.

In the MLC Restorer downloader also download the SLC titles and put them into the wafe_install folder too.

But the mlc setup itself requires a 5.5 IOSU to work. Since the one on your SLC is too old, we need to load it from SD.
Use JNUSTool to download the latest OSv10, we only need the fw.img from that.
Code:
java -jar JNUSTool.jar 000500101000400A
Rename the fw.img from the OSv10 to ios_orig.img and put it on the SD card.

Then in minute use Patch (sd) and boot sdmc:/ios_orig.img to start the setup.

After the setup is done, you should have the latest IOSU / OSv10 installed, and from there on you can load from the SLC.

some people are capable of calmly discussing such things, but on a public forum or anywhere with a large amount of people, you're going to have people who can't
