If you play any game online with an outdated loader it works except Mario Kart Wii, since it requires an specific patch.
I know I could update my loader to play mkwii online, but it makes my disc games stop recognizing emunand and doing so my dlc for them stop working (I think using real nand kinda miserable since it is so restrained by memory space), that is why I stay on an old usbgx version. There is only a handful of games that dont work on cios emunand, so I run these on sneek.
Before if I needed to play mkwii online, I had to make a image of my disc and patch it for it to work with mkwii, now I made a wiimmfi patcher channel which I installed on sneek, so I can play with my disc online keeping the old version of the loader.

oh so excluding mk wii loaders like cfg dont need patching and should work fine with the new wiimfii update?
yes, only mkwii doesnt work online with a outdated loader

edit from the wiimmfi site: https://wiimmfi.de/update
We've now found a similar security issue that seems to be present in most Wii games. We already fixed that issue in Mario Kart Wii with our auto-updater, but we can't do that for other games. Thus, we have created new Wiimmfi patchers for all Wii games. These new patchers will be required for all games that do have this security issue.
so yes, now all games will need to be patched again, run through a updated loader or the autopatcher.
I think it is particularly a issue since many loaders are not being updated as often as before, so the function will break online connectivity for a lot of people and many will not know how to fix, since error codes tend to be hard coded into the games and they will not show that there are new steps needed to continue using wiimmfi.

I dont know how this patches work, if it just changes the boot.dol it would be possible to keep people using the setup they always had by changing the main dol executable.

We'll be performing some maintenance on Wiimmfi from March 31st, 17:00 UTC, probably for around two hours. During this time you won't be able to connect to Wiimmfi or find matches, but if you're already in a MKW match you can probably keep playing.

The Wiimmfi webpage and the Wii-Homebrew.com forums might also not work some of the time while we're doing maintenance.

Shot in the dark but figured I'd ask anyway: how come some DS games simply do not work over a wi-fi connection with WEP security, while others do? Like, I can play Clubhouse Games just fine over a wi-fi connection that has WEP security, but if I try Metroid Prime Hunters on that exact same connection, I can't connect, nor can I pass a connection test in the Wi-Fi configuration settings.

It's truly bizarre, and I only recently realized that removing all security fixed my issue. Would like to know why some games don't work while others do.
