Wow, a choose your own adventure book for masochists.
I've seen RPG modules like this but the illustrations take it a step further. Looks like a Ultima module in book form. "If you don't have access to a computer, you can do the calculations on a piece of paper." The framerate is roughly the same

On the latter, I Hate seeing that when the AI's get the better of me in a FPS or RPG game.

Almost to the point of wanting to throw my controller at the screen
